8/8 Cheering, Venting and More Rutlo

Postby daullaz » Wed Aug 08, 2012 3:51 pm

Yesterday

-Michael Fiers takes umbrage with your opinion of what aces should throw, as he mixed his piddly little 88 mph fastball with his excellent secondary stuff to make a run at a perfect game last night, falling nine outs short of perfection. I'd say his fantasy stock is on Fiers, ifyouknowwhatImean amiright? Anyone?

-Jeremy Affeldt picked up a save for the Giants, with Santiago Casilla warming up in the seventh inning but succumbing to a blister. Manager Bruce Bochy has announced his intentions to move to a closer by committee, comprising of Affeldt, Sergio Romo, maybe Javier Lopez, BUT NOT YOU BRANDON BELT! "I wonder if I still have Ryan Klesko's number," Bochy probably said with regards to his 1B position.

- Josh "Rutlo" Rutledge posted three doubles during his 4-for-5 performance, raising his slugging percentage to .700. In honor of the big game, Rutledge contemplated having his nicknamed changed from "Rutlo" to "Troy" but decided that was a little on the nose.

Today

-Ron Washington is only using Joe Nathan in save situations moving forward. "He's my only closer on my AL-only team that's in second place," Washington probably explained. "The guy in front of me has Mike Adams, Alexi Ogando and Robbie Ross. I think he drafted them five rounds early just to piss me off. I hate that guy."

-Bryan LaHair was one of the big fantasy stories of April, and now he's headed to the Cubs bench. "We're only playing rookies from now on," says the-guy-I-assume-is-manager-by-now Ryne Sandberg. When informed that LaHair is a rookie, Ryno shot the reporter a look and said, "But like, a real rookie. You know what I'm sayin'?"

When you're going against the Rockies pitching staff, in Colorado...this is not a surprise.

Meanwhile 15-0 against the Cards tonight? Very much a surprise.
