Hey guys, I want to know what everyone felt like where their best draft steals this year. Also, did you pick up any great players off waivers when an owner unwisely dropped them, only for them to heat up right after you got them?
Personally, I'm in a 9 team NL only roto league, so great players are pretty scarce. My best steals were netting Aroldis Chapman in the 15th round, Cueto in the 10th round, and Furcal in the 18th round. I was really pleased with those picks.
I also got Tim Hudson off waivers after his owner dropped him after a couple bad starts. While he's not fantasy gold, he's a solid option, especially when I've been streaming guys like Detwiler.
As a non-Mike Trout owner, I imagine I'll be the rarity in this thread... My main league has a bit of a funky keeper system, so some players are drafted in odd rounds, but still, these are guys I think I got great value on in my draft...
Chris Sale -- 189th Ryan Dempster -- 192nd
Colby Lewis (112th) and Brandon Morrow (129th) both had great value until their respective injuries.
Off the WW, I picked up Jeff Samardzija on 5/5, dumped him on 6/24, and then re-added him on 7/3. And my entire bullpen... Ernesto Frieri (5/23), Addison Reed (5/11), and Alfredo Aceves (4/4) after completely crapping out on drafting a bullpen of Sergio Santos, Sean Marshall, and Carlos Marmol...
Alex Rios - Got him off the WW in my 3 leagues early in the season (I'm sure most leagues he was either a FA or a late draft pick). He's been top 20 in Yahoo, and considering I didn't get Trout in any league...I consider him my consolation prize.
Josh Willingham - I'm surprised more people weren't up on Willingham as I was (or at least it seemed). I got him somewhere round 20+ in my 12 team standard league. He hit 29 HRs with 90+ RBI in Oakland without any offensive protection, in such a huge stadium and he also played only 130ish games I believe because he had a short stint on the DL. Move him to Minnesota where he has Mauer, Morneau, Plouffe (once Plouffe started mashing), Ben Revere, Denard Span...actual teammates who could hit, and look what he has been able to do.

SS, C, and 2B have been deeper than thought circa draft day.
SS: Alcides Escobar is making Andrus owners a little upset over wasting an early round pick on mediocre stats. Ian Desmond until he was injured was raking and could have been had quite late in drafts. C: Ruiz, Doumit, Pierzynski, Perez, Grandal, Rosario All these guys demonstrate the infinite wisdom of not draft catchers before the 15th round. 2B: Walker/Altuve/Kipnis/Hill continue to play well and surprise while Uggla/Pedroia/Zobrist/MYoung fail high expectations. Don't forget Craig.
Most of these guys were lumped into the 'meh' pile during the pre-season and have performed quite well.
