Best SS AFTER Profar

So someone just picked up Profar in my league. I obviously waited too long to pull the trigger on him. Who is the next best SS prospect? I'm looking for offensive production and chance at staying at SS.

Manny Machado
Francisco Lindor
Xander Bogaerts
Billy Hamilton

Anyone else deserve to be in this list?

Machado hasn't really shown a whole lot in the minors, however. Is the best he's going to be a .270 hitter?

Machado tops the list, though there are certainly rumblings he's more of a 3B long-term from what I've heard.

I think Lindor is the next guy on the list, though even a year of Hamilton at SS would be money and he's closer to the bigs as far as I know. Both of them are way ahead of Bogaerts offensively speaking.

.270 hitters is fine if he plays SS and has secondary skills. It's not like any of the other 3 are great contact hitters(still not convinced on Billy being a .300 hitter in the majors). Machado has the best power ceiling(can be argued with Bogeart but Xander is so far away he's pretty much just a dream now) out of the group and the 2nd most likely(after Lindor) to stay at the position. Recent scouting report was very positive about his defense there.

I don't think it's particularly close but if others disagree I'd like to hear their arguments.

Full disclosure: I do own Billy Hamilton in a league and Lindor in another.

Edit: I'd go as far as to say that I prefer Machado's bat over Profar long term due to scout projection. Profar is still clearly the better prospect due to his excellent defense, but defense don't net you points in fantasy.

I'm going to disagree with the others. I'd put Bogaerts #2 based on offensive upside (He's obviously a little further away than the others). I actually think his offensive upside is equal to that of Machado. Bogaerts probably wont stick at ss, but he could get a few years there, especially with Middlebrooks manning 3B.

I'd also put Javier Baez on this list and probably have him ahead of hamilton and lindor based on upside...on par with Machado and Bogaerts.

a) this thread should be called best SS after Machado. Profar is the clear #1 and Machado is the clear #2. Some apparently only look at stats superficially and don't take things like age and scouting reports into account. A (just turned) 20 yr old SS in AA with a .784 OPS is outstanding. Combine that with excellent K and BB rates with good power and it is actually amazing.

As for the rest - they are actually all pretty close imo. Each has his own shortcomings which spread the gap between Profar/Machado and these 4.

Bogaerts - best bat but he'll be a 3Bman although he could qualify there for a season or two - I don't understand why some think he's so far away. He's in AA now...
Baez - very encouraging start
Hamilton - if you love SB's you could rate him higher because he is ridiculous but I still don't love his other baseball skills. It's encouraging to see all of the walks this year though.
Lindor - don't know much about him but he's making contact, walking and stealing bases.

I think his callup will be dictated by what happens at SS/3B for the Sox next year. If there is playing time he'll be up although I'm a little concerned about his plate discipline. The K's aren't bad this year but I'm concerned about when he starts seeing good breaking balls from every pitcher. His plate discipline is way ahead of Middlebrooks though and he could be a big disappointment next season forcing the Sox to call up Bogaerts next year.

surprised there's no mention of Andrelton Simmons. a little like Erik Aybar with a higher average

I expect 350/410/760

with a 300 average 5 to 10 homers 15-25 sb's.

I wouldn't put him 1st on the list but maybe 3rd after Machado and Bogaerts.
