Which closer(s) to go with?

Postby disasterisk » Mon Aug 06, 2012 12:40 pm

I'm in a h2h league, standard scoring (W,K,S,ERA,WHIP).

My opponent this week has a dominant starting pitching staff. However, all he has is starters. He has no relievers of any kind. Nor are there any closers available in free agency. Because of this, I want to sit all of my starters for the week, giving him a win in both the strikeouts and wins categories. My idea is that I choose 1 or 2 closers and hope that they get a save situation and then have a 1-2-3 inning. This would give me a win in the saves, era, and whip categories.

So, what closer should I start tonight?

Frieri - at Athletics
Cook - home against Angels
Valverde - home against Yankees
Reed - home against Royals

I was thinking of starting Frieri AND Cook. Since their teams are playing each other in Oakland and they are both starting pretty good pitchers (Weaver, Parker) I think the game will be close, and obviously I'll be able to take advantage if either team gets a save opportunity. The only thing I'm worried about is Cook's recent struggles.
