UPDATE!!! PLEASE SEE BOTTOM OF THE THREAD MY LAST POST (TRADE SCENARIO)(SOLVED) UPDATE!!! PLEASE SEE PAGE 2 MY THREAD
14 team league, deep rosters Auction Fantasy Points league we start the following weekly 2 Catchers 2-1B 2-2B 2-3B 2-SS 5-OF 1-DH 8-Pitchers 6 man bench and 3 minor league slots.
Got some healthy bodies last week, and traded for some 2-1 deals. Need to drop someone.
These are my options the way I see it 2B - M.Ellis $1 (1) (LAD) - not needed right now, but is a nice cheap backup @ 2B and $1, my two starters a semi expansive and I like the insurance P - J.Blanton $1 (1) (LAD) - trade to LA, should give him a boast P - K.Medlen $1 (ATL) - recently claimed him last week due to his 2 starts this week. Nice cheap option especially when I have an active salary cap @ $305, when Hanson returns he is probably a reliever again right? but does have value right now. P - R.Betancourt $6 (1) (COL) - Rockies have been terrible of late no save chances, is almost useless of late.
My Starting Roster C - Y.Molina, M.Montero 1B - A.Gonzalez, B.Butler 2B - D.Uggla, R.Weeks 3B - B.Lawrie, W.Bloomquist (just filling in for Bautista/Plouffe) SS - J.Reyes, S.Castro OF - A.McCutchen, M.Trout, M.Bourn, A.Craig, D.Stubbs DH - C.Santana P - J.Lester, J.Zimmermann, T.Hudson, R.Dempster, J.McDonald, AJ.Burnett, J.Hanrahan, T.Clippard BENCH - E.Hosmer, M.Ellis, L.Cain, J.Hellickson, K.Medlen, J.Blanton, R.Betancourt (currently one to many) DL - 3B/OF - J.Bautista, 3B/SS/OF - T.Plouffe, P - J.Niemann, P - C.Luebke (will have to make room for the following 4 as well sooner or later) MINORS - SS - J.Segura (MIL) P - C.Archer (TB) P - A.Bradley (ARZ)

I see what you are saying with having Ellis for backup...but this is a really deep league man, I say you dump him. Pick up a guy when needed if either Weeks or Uggs goes down. No need to waste the roster spot.
I think Mendlen might keep his spot for a while...Hanson has been bothered by this back issue for a while now, he could need a few weeks. Blanton is blanton...just a boring fantasy pitcher, but he gives you plenty of value in such a deep league. Closer on bad teams are pretty valuable too...every win they get is likely a small win, so he'll get the saves.
I would drop Ellis. I want closers all year. I like to load up on them personally and just take the category easily. After Ellis I drop Blanton, Medlan, Betancourt in that order.
Keep C Napoli 1 Butler/Davis/Hosmer/Dunn 2 Young/Utley/Zobrist 3 Moustakas SS Bonifacio/E Cabrera OF Grandy/Choo/Reddick/Kubel SP Anderson/C Lee/Oswalt Haren/Moore/A Sanchez RP Soriano/Myers/Johnson/Aceves/Parnell
What about the following deal? 2B - Ellis $1 P - Betancourt $6 FOR 2B - Infante $3 (should give me an upgrade of Ellis as my backup @ 2B, down the stretch and quite possibly can start over the struggling Uggla.)
I dont know why you are so eager to get rid of Betancourt. No the Rox havent done well at all lately, but he's worth more than Infante by far. To make room for someone, Mark Ellis is the one to go. He's just another guy...you can easily replace him.
