I'm in a 16-team 6x6 H2H keeper league, top 6 teams make the playoffs. I'm currently in 5th place.
With the trade deadline a couple weeks away, I need to make a final push to solidify my spot in the playoffs and set myself up for a championship run. With that in mind I have targeted a few players which I would like to try to acquire, but I am looking for some help/advise on if these players will actually benefit me, and whether or not I have the pieces to make a deal happen.
Here are a few trade offers I've been considering throwing out there, at least as a starting point. Please let me know what you think in terms of (a) will the players I'd be getting be beneficial to my team, and (b) what's the likelihood of the offer garnering some traction based on the player value? I've also added the current position of each potential trade partner in the standings for context.
Trade 1 - other owner current in 13th place Get: Madison Bumgarner, Emilio Bonafacio (2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF, RF), 8th Round Pick Give: James Shields, Chris Young (CF) OR Kendrys Morales (1B, RF), 6th Round Pick Purpose: Boost my top-end SP, and Bonafacio would provide position versatility and strong SB potential which could potentially swing a playoff matchup. Do I need a larger gap in the draft picks to balance it out though?
Trade 2 - other owner current in 6th place Get: Jeremy Hellickson, Marco Scutaro (2B, SS) Give: Mike Minor, Josh Rutledge (SS) Purpose: Boost my mid-to-lower end SP. And while I like how Rutledge has burst onto the ML scene, there’s no way he can keep hitting like this… but maybe I can sell high on him as a balancing point between Hellickson & Minor as this trade partner only has a struggling Stephen Drew at SS and would also help him in his playoff push. I could try to get Scutaro back to ensure that I maintain some middle infield depth.
Trade 3 - other owner current in 12th place Get: Billy Butler, **draft pick** Give: Kendrys Morales, **draft pick** Purpose: I want an upgrade at my UTIL/1B slot, and need someone who plays more regularly than Morales who still finds himself sitting out often. But I don’t know what draft picks to include to make a fair offer… any suggestions?
Here’s my current roster: C Jonathan Lucroy (C) 1B Anthony Rizzo (1B) 2B Dustin Pedroia (2B) 3B Brett Lawrie (3B) SS Hanley Ramirez (3B, SS) LF Matt Joyce (LF, RF) CF Carlos Beltran (CF, RF) RF Justin Ruggiano (LF, CF, RF) UTIL Josh Rutledge (SS) BN Kendrys Morales (1B, RF) BN Chris Young (CF) BN Russell Martin (C) BN Jim Thome (UTIL) DL
SP James Shields SP Matt Garza SP Johnny Cueto SP Homer Bailey RP Santiago Casilla RP Tom Wilhelmson P David Robertson BN Heath Bell BN Mike Minor DL Andrew Cashner DL Jaime Garcia
#1 and #3 are certainly to your advantage. I would do #1 first, as Bumg is the best player that was mentioned in any of them. #3 is good because Mr. Belvedere is the 2nd best player mentioned. I have Bumg, Butler and Morales on my roster, so I know a little bit about all 3.
Thanks for the responses so far, but given the overwhelming response that option #1 has garnered amd I to read into it that it may not be fair enough for the other side to accept??
It doesn't help that Chris Young is sitting out again today, for the 4th time in the last 7 games...
