2012 Olympics

Postby RedHopeful » Sat Jul 28, 2012 1:19 pm

Surprised there isn't a thread up yet. Really enjoy the Olympics as a change of pace to my usual sports viewing. For some reason, it's the only time I feel like watching swimming, volleyball and gymnastics. Pretty cool to watch badminton, table tennis and handball after throwing back a few too. ;-D

YES! COME ON NEW ZEALAND! :-L

Seeing as we aren't in that many events, I've "adopted" a couple of other countries this time around.......

1. New Zealand
------------------------
2. Great Britain (my grandmother was from Northern Ireland)
3. China (DOWN WITH THE US :-D )

Yo' mama :-b

Down with Australia too :-L

Experienced some of the worst commentary ever the other day....almost ESPN-esque.

Scenario: Swimming was on, and for two races there were no Aussie swimmers. Libby Trickett is a famous Aussie swimmer.

Female commentator: AUSTRALIA, LIBBY TRICKETT, AUSTRALIA, LIBBY TRICKETT, LIBBY TRICKETT, LIBBY TRICKETT
Male commentator, multiple times: (Exasperated voice) Anyway, back to this race
Female commentator: AUSTRALIA, LIBBY TRICKETT, AUSTRALIA, LIBBY TRICKETT, LIBBY TRICKETT, LIBBY TRICKETT

Non-Aussie race ends. Race starts with Trickett in it.
Female commentator is ABSOLUTELY &*%*&*^%&ING SILENT FOR THE ENTIRE RACE.

Honestly the start of the Olympics was really great. I am not talking just about the effects, and fireworks, i am talking about the preparation that involved a lot of people, and everything was done in time, with a specific theme.

They manage to attract the attention not just on the placements, staff. After all its about UK, a place with a big tradition in sport, and a big financial potential .
Play the Best Games ever. This is the best opportunity for you.

2.5 hour rain delay in the middle of a 4 hour match. First two sets took under an hour, haha. Up until about the 40th game of the 3rd set Raonic seemed to have more chances at breaking serve. Then he gave Tsonga break points in 3 separate games, and that was that. Tsonga looked completely drained though. He called for a challenge at one point just to get the 5 second break.
