I guess we're about to find out how much I'm a Mariners fan and how much I'm an Ichiro fan. I mean, the Yankees. God, it could have been, I don't know, some NL team. But the Yankees...
This is one of those time when I say screw the numbers, screw the logic, I feel how I feel.

I'm not even an M's fan, but I love Ichiro and hate the thought of him on the Yankees.
Carlos Peguero taking over in RF tonight. what kind of value does Peguero have going forward? this year in the minors in 48 games/144 AB - .293/.361/.633/.994/ 18 HR. I see he has legit power, but big trouble with K's.
Yeah that's kind of what I was afraid of, Ichiro buried at the end of the line up..although I'm sure the Yanks manage 8 baserunners most nights, so that 4th plate appearance won't miss him that often..
Why don't they just get a house that's already painted?
at first I saw on twitter Ichiro batting 9th. now I see he's batting 8th after Jones and in front of Martin. I think he would be better 9th in front of Jeter/Granderson.

My guess: Ichiro full time outfielder... Ibanez DH vs Righties, Jones DH vs Lefties
Ichiro's been awful against lefties this year himself so Girardi has some wiggle room..i'm just wondering where Ichiro will bat..if he's batting 7th or 8th his value is unchanged IMO
Bingo. Better glove man than Ibanez. Can take over for Wise (who just got cut), play LF, DH some, primarily vs righties. It is not ike Ibanez has been a world beater in LF. Solid but a liability in the field. It's real impact is in the limiting of being able to DH ARoid while playing Chavez at 3b. Now I think Arod outright sits a little more.
As to where he bats, my guess is 9th ala Gardner or second with everyone sliding down one. but with Giradi you never know.

No way. Kevin Long and Giradi will get to him and he will be swinging from his heels as hard as he can trying to hit Hrs on every pitch and rack up a huge number of ks just like the rest of the lineup. I am surprised Cashman got a guy like Ichiro...not his usual 240, big homer, big K, can't hit in the clutch or with men on type. Then again maybe Ichiro blew out his arm yesterday and Cashman can't resist trading for another hurt Seattle player. Or maybe he was told to do it by his pshycho mistress?

youve got to be joking right? no way Ichiro suddenly changes his entire game. the Yankees know exactly what theyre getting with him, and its definitely NOT a power hitter

Ichiro has stated previously that he could hit, I think it was 50, HR if he wanted to. Maybe this is the time he decides to try it out. He will face the AL East opponents with the zeal of a challenger.
