This could mean that Swisher may not be able to play full-time over the course of the remainder of the season, potentially. You've got Ibanez, Jones, and now Ichiro who are going to fill the corner OF spots with Swish, who if he was 100%, probably would have dissuaded the Yanks from pursuing Ichiro, who they got for next to nothing regardless.

why does this have to do with Swisher?
I admit I have no idea on the numbers of Ibanez or Jones, but couldn't this just mean Ichiro takes over for Ibanez/Jones?

it's funny seeing some reactions on twitter. as if the Yankees trade for the Ichiro that he used to be.
maybe Ichiro gets more motivated and goes crazy in NY? but his current line isn't exactly WOW - .261/.288/.353/.642/ 4 HR/ 15 SB.

It'd be interesting for Ichiro to take over for Jones/Ibanez, as they've been much more productive than he has this year. LF has hardly been a deficit for them this season, nor has offense as a whole. If Swisher's health is in question, it makes it much more understandable.

Ichiro's been awful against lefties this year himself so Girardi has some wiggle room..i'm just wondering where Ichiro will bat..if he's batting 7th or 8th his value is unchanged IMO

His legacy is pretty much written and I can't blame him for going to NY for a chance at a ring, but I wish he retired as a Mariner just for that old-time feeling of being team/city loyal.
