Deal for Cliff Lee or Stand Pat? WHIR

Postby sigriffey » Mon Jul 23, 2012 2:27 pm

I don't trust Tommy Hanson these days. Should I deal for Cliff Lee? Any of these good for me?

Some scenarios that might get it done since he needs HR/RBI:

Deal A.) Adrian Beltre and Hanson for Cliff Lee and Motte

Deal B.) Adrian Beltre for Cliff Lee

Deal C.) David Ortiz for Cliff Lee

Deal D.) Ortiz and Hanson for Lee and Dempster

Are you playing in a league with 10 year olds? Your team has about 12 players that would've been drafted in the first two rounds.

Maybe so, but I'm still in 3rd and 9 games back of first. Been incredibly unlucky but bought low on a number of struggling studs.

I agree with you on Hanson.

However the rest of your pitchers are very nice, so I think you can afford to let him try to right the ship.

But if you really want to make a trade, I like option D the best.

I am generally not a huge fan of trading a bat straight up for an arm and your rotation still looks pretty strong even with the struggling lincecum and hanson so I'd personally stand pat.

If you were to move a bat though I'd move Beltre because I think Ortiz will have a better season the rest of the way and he is less of an injury risk (depsite Ortiz's current DL stint) because he doesn't play in the field let alone 3B.

Out of the two Beltre deals I think you come out better on the Beltre and Hanson for Lee and Motte deal because it allows you to move Hanson (who I don't trust either) while Beltre for Lee straight up does not. That being said if you could somehow get the haul from offer D with Beltre instead of Ortiz that would be the best. Even if his peripherals suggest regression I like Dempster getting out of Wrigley and getting some quality defensive outfielders and a quality offense behind him in Atlanta.
