Which SP to target? [Always WHIR]

Postby TruYankeeFan » Sat Jul 21, 2012 7:58 am

I have a little less than a month to make any significant moves via trade. Going into this week I was in 1st with a 3 game lead, and could add to that this week assuming I don't have a horrid weekend.

The guy in 2nd has put RA Dickey, Adam Wainwright, Billy Butler and Martin Prado on the Block...and is looking for 1B, 2B, SP, RP.

12 team head 2 head...scoring as follows...r,rbi, tb, obp, netsb/ip, sv, k, era, whip

I really want Dickey, but I am sure he will make me over pay there. So.....I was thinking of doing something like Altuve and McDonald for Halladay and Prado. Then I could either move Craig to 2B for the ROS or Niel Walker is available on the FA wire...so I could also try a 3 for 2 and pick him up (or drop someone like Fiers).

Is that ridiculous? Is there a better move?

My Roster:
C-Ruiz
1B-Prince
2B-Altuve
SS-Jeter
3B-Arod
OF-CarGo
OF-Melky Cabrera
OF-Cespedes
UT-A Craig
BN-Napoli, B Harper, Gardner(DL)

SP-Kershaw, J McDonald, Dempster, Harrison, Zimmermann, Fiers, Hughes, Shields
RP -Chapman, Axford, Wilhelmson

His Roster:
C-McCann
1B-Rizzo
2B-Zobrist
SS-Desmond
3B-HanRam
OF-Trout
OF-Prado
OF-Beltran
UT-Butler
BN-Andrus
BN-Markakis

SP- Dickey, Verlander, Halladay, Darvish, Wainwright, Miley,
RP- Soriano, Valverde, Aceves, Casilla, Broxton

Thanks in advance...and leave a link and I will hit you back ;-D
Just finished draft...how did I do?

Txs for the reply to my post....

I don't think I would be moving McDonald if I were you....McDonald has been a beast this season and doesn't look like he is slowing down none...If I were you I would try and make a move for Dickey and see what the other guy does (how much he values him)...most would skyrocket the price on Dickey but you never know...

I would maybe roll with trying to move Dempster or Fiers....I personally don't like Dempster much like most and although he has been on fire todays game looked like a sign of things to come so I would try selling high on him and/or Fiers (I like Fiers more going into the season)

So I would try maybe something like Altuve+Dempster for Halladay and then grab Walker or someone else off the WW. (You can try the same for Dickey but he will probably decline)

***To be honest looking at what you stated above he had only put Dickey and Wainwright on the block and no Halladay so not sure if that still sticks but I would try Dickey for Altuve+Dempster/Fiers and if he doesn't like that (most wouldn't) then I would try for Halladay and then Wainwright (if you values them over Dempster/Fiers...

Good Luck!

I really don't see the other owner going for this, but I would definitely do this if I were in your shoes. It's worth an offer I guess. I just wouldn't expect it to be accepted. It may spark a counter offer.

I would not target Dickey. I don't think that he keeps pace. I would check in on Wainwright. Send an email and see what his asking price would be. It's always a better approach rather than attempting to formulate an offer that you may offend someone with. The other side of the coin would be you bidding against yourself & giving more than the other guy would be willing to sell at.

I'd say do it, I'd also gauge the value he has on Trout. Just to kick the tires around.

I'd target Wainwright as Dickey's cost would be too high. Offer up Altuve+SP of your picking for him and add Walker to fill the 2B hole. Thanks for the help with mine.
