My Lance Lynn for Youkilis and Choo?

Postby ron paul for pres » Thu Jul 19, 2012 4:43 pm

12 team, H2H, 5x5, non-keeper

I was targeting Youkilis and I offered either Johan or Moore. He countered with this:

I give - Lance Lynn

I get - Kevin Youkilis and Shin-Soo Choo

What do you guys think? Since Carpenter is out for the year, does Lynn have his job all year now? Any word of any kind of innings cap?

I even already have an empty spot because I dropped Bauer. I had dropped Axford the other day, but I was considering using Bauer's spot to pick him back up in case he gets his job back.

I'm leaving Storen in the DL spot for the time being. I want to keep him stashed, but he's useless unless he gets his job back. And McCarthy may be able to help me soon.

C - Ruiz
1B - Miggy
2B - Kinsler
3B - Middlebrooks
OF - Hamilton, A Jackson, Morse
DH - Butler
BN - Bruce, Beltran (only because they've been slumping lately)

SP - Strasburg, Greinke, Cueto, Darvish, Dempster, Lynn, Johan, Garza, Moore, McCarthy (DL)
RP - Clippard, Putz, K Rod
DL - Storen

You're getting decent value in return, but I can't see either guy really becoming a mainstay in your lineup. I don't see Choo ever cracking it. Maybe look to move Austin Jackson and Middlebrooks for a real impact 3B option. Youk is only streaking at the moment. This won't continue.

I'm a little surprised the potential trade partner is willing to give up both Youk and Chou for Lynn, to be perfectly honest with ya. I'd seriously consider it. While some might say Youk is only streaking at the moment, I think he'll be a good option for the remainder of the fantasy season. And there is a lot of talk of 2nd half regression with Lynn, he's in uncharted territory as a starter at this point.

Lance Lynn is starting down some realistic regression.

Youk is looking up compared to his 1st half stats.

I'd accept that.

I agree with the guy above that Choo does me little good. He would be my 5th or 6th OF and would rarely see the light of day. What if the deal was this:

Give - Lance Lynn

Get - Kevin Youkilis and Ian Desmond

I've got Asdrubal at SS, but he's been worrying me lately. I want to build my lineup on power.

This really comes down to whether Lynn is going to significantly regress. If he is, am I getting the best value I can given the needs of my team?

I also would have to drop someone. Either Middlebrooks or a RP.

Roster again:

C - Ruiz
1B - Miggy
2B - Kinsler
3B - Middlebrooks
SS - A Cabrera
OF - Hamilton, Morse, A Jackson
DH - Butler
BN - Beltran, Bruce (again, only due to recent slumps)

SP - Strasburg, Greinke, Cueto, Darvish, Dempster, Johan, Lynn, Garza, Moore
RP - Clippard, Putz, K Rod, Sergio Romo (should take job soon), Storen (might get it back)
DL - McCarthy

Do the Choo deal...I would start choo over Butler in a 5x5

What if I counter with my Lynn for his Ian Desmond and Shin Soo Choo?

I could platoon Morse and Middlebrooks on the corners with Miggy sliding back and forth b/w 1st and 3rd. Then I could put Choo in the OF while he's hot. (Hamilton, A Jax, Choo) with Beltran and Bruce riding the bench until (if) they start hitting again.

I would probably drop Romo. He hasn't been given the closer job yet.

Only hesitation is losing Lynn. Especially since Strasburg is going to be shut down. But is Lynn regressing anyway? Can my staff take the loss?
