I had been hanging on to Bauer for a while, and after the injuries to the D-Backs rotation I thought he'd be around for the rest of the season. But lo and behold he's been sent back down. I had him eating up a spot on my roster for two months before he was called up, so it's a tough pill to swallow to drop him now after hanging on to him for so long.

But, I guess if somebody else grabs him if/when he comes back up, that's the way the cookie crumbles. I don't think I can afford to have wasted spots on my roster.

So do I give up on Bauer now after hanging on to him for so long? Or do I wait and see if he comes back up after a few good starts in Triple A?

Also, if I should keep Bauer anyway, dropping Myers is another option. But he's another guy I've been hanging on to for so long that I'd hate to give up now.

Here are some of the worthwhile available FAs:

-Mike Minor (had him earlier in the season, two great starts in a row)
-Salvador Perez (have Posey, waiting on Myers, not sure he's needed)
-Neil Walker
-Delmon Young
-Yoenis Cespedes
-Lorenzo Cain
-Dexter Fowler
-Carlos Santana
-Howie Kendrick
-Emilio Bonifacio
-Corey Hart
-Jeremy Hellickson
-Francisco Rodriguez
-Greg Holland (if Broxton gets traded)
-Felix Doubront
-Steve Cishek
-Jeff Karstens
-Drew Pomeranz

I'm thinking maybe both Myers and Bauer can go for Hellickson/Pomeranz/Holland/K-Rod/Minor, but I just don't know how I feel about dropping them.

Since it's not a keeper just go ahead and drop Bauer. Get Bonifacio, Fowler, or Holland (if you don't need offense at all). You don't need another pitcher anyway.

I think I would drop Bauer and use that spot to stream some pitchers. While it is tough to make that decision, you have to play to win and keeping Bauer on your team isn't going to help you win even if he does come back and give a few good starts. Odds are that he will be on an innings limit so even what he can do to help you in the majors will be pretty minimal at this point. I think I would hang on to Myers unless you really need that spot. It doesn't look like you need another bat at the moment and there isn't any one pitcher I would run and grab so keeping Myers on your bench shouldn't hurt that much. But like I said if you get hit with an injury, then make the move and drop Myers.
