Postby sigriffey » Tue Jul 17, 2012 5:50 pm

Do one of these deals for Kipnis? I'd also clear a roster spot for Pedroia...

Deal A

Give: Altuve, Rasmus and Moustakas
Get: Kipnis and A.Soriano

Deal B

Give: Altuve, Rasmus and Moustakas
Get: Kipnis and M.Brantley

Neither. Kipnis is great and all, but you're paying too much for him and a second piece. If you can get a better second piece then I would consider the trade. It'd have to be a player who isn't old as dirt or hohum, since you're giving up three strong young players.

While I do like Kipnis, a lot, I think you'd be giving up way too much in both deals. I'd sit tight for now. Altuve is not a bad option at 2B. I agree that the only way I make this deal is if you get something better in return with that second piece. Both OFs being offered are waiver wire material.

I agree with the others. You are getting fleeced. Don't make either deal.

I passed on these deals and instead traded Rasmus and Moustakas for Adrian Beltre. Mous wasn't going to make my 6 keeper list so this should help me down the stretch. Allows me to activate Pedroia too.

Nice job...I personally don't mind giving up too much for a guy if he's going to help me win a championship which I think Kipnis would have. That's why I try and stockpile talent as the year goes on, to add depth at positions to afford to make deals like that which help you win.
