Replacing Votto, Can I get Trumbo for this? WHIR

Postby lyons595 » Mon Jul 16, 2012 4:58 pm

A quick question for the Cafe experts...is this a reasonable move to soften the blow of losing Votto? The other owner has good OF depth but needs a 2B (currently Howie Kendrick). I have Kipnis, who I love but who has been ice cold over the past 30 days or so. I'm thinking the time is now to use him as bait to add some O. I also have SP depth that the other owner really needs. This seems like a fit for both of us.
The kicker is I need to add a 2B if the trade is accepted. MY options would be: Rickie Weeks, D Espinosa, Kelly Johnson, Kyle Seager, D Murphy, Scutaro, Beckham, Ackley.

Thoughts? Thanks!

I give: Jason Kipnis and Johnny Cueto OR James McDonald (possibly throwing in Brantley, Fowler, or Goldschmidt)
I get: Mark Trumbo (and Hendrick if I throw-in)

ESPN, h2h each, 12 team, 4 RP max, daily roster changes. Cats: standard 5x5 plus OPS, QS. Non-keeper. I stream 1-2 SP weekly.

C Mike Napoli
1B Paul Goldschmidt
2B Jason Kipnis
3B Jose Bautista
SS Jose Reyes
OF Michael Bourn
OF Adam Jones
OF Dexter Fowler
UTIL Michael Brantley
DL Giancarlo Stanton
DL Joey Votto
SP Adam Wainwright
SP Roy Halladay
SP James McDonald
SP Johnny Cueto
SP stream spot
RP Craig Kimbrel
RP Kenley Jansen
RP Tyler Clippard
RP Ryan Cook

As far as who you would pick up, I'd go with kelly johnson over everyone else. Obviously keep an eye on weeks in case he figures his shit out, espinosa isn't terrible but I just think johnson will be most consistent. As far as the trade goes,It sounds to me like its a fair deal, the manager should accept it, but then again, it depends how he values trumbo. If he is lacking that badly at SP, and he is lacking terribly at 2b like you said, then he has to consider accepting this. please help me man...

What about fowler(I'm guessing you don't have better options laying around?) and Kipnis and one of the pitchers you mentioned and take Kendrick and Trumbo.
I don't like this deal, lol. I would actually stick with Kipnis. Cueto and McDonald are pitching like studs. I would go straight up for Trumbo. Give the manager the option of choosing between McDonald and cueto.
Another question, why do you have four relief pitchers? Three would seem fine. Trade one of them and stream a relief guy if you'd like.
