Aybar or Ruben Tejada?

Postby tenacean » Mon Jul 16, 2012 1:40 pm

Well...due to injury...I need a 2B/SS...the two player that are left in my league that are even worth looking at are Aybar and Ruben Tejada...

Aybar has been hot lately hitting over .300 for the past 5 weeks...and...he's sitting at the top of the order rather than 7th or 8th lately...he's not stealing bases like he use to though...if he was I'd have picked him up...he does have some power (recently) but not much...my fear is that he'll be dropped back into the 7 or 8 death holes in the lineup...he's steady...he's a .270 hitter all day long

Ruben Tejada is a hitter...he'll hit for avg. all day long and he'll get lots of runs since he gets on base and hits primarily in the one or two hole in the lineup...he picks up modest RBI #s for a one or two hole hitter...but no power...the kid has speed but doesn't seem to want to use it...so...he's got avg and runs going for...the kid seems to have more production than Aybar with a LOT less ABs...but...he's only in his 1st or 2nd year...

Thoughts out there??

It's close. Aybar will give you an ounce more power (few more HR, some RBI) but Tejada will give you a slightly better average going forward - he won't keep hitting .328 - and will be on base more for run-scoring opportunities.

If Aybar keeps hitting 2nd - between Trout and Pujols - I give him the slight nod. If he is moving all over the lineup, go with Tejada.

Is this worth trading Trout? viewtopic.php?f=26&t=450569&p=3547788#p3547788

...well...of course...I picked up Aybar after doing some research...I hoped Aybar would get more opportunity in one of the top three holes in the lineup...and maybe steal bases once again...

On the plus side...he gave me a hit and two stolen bases right away...

On the downside...he was hitting 7th which doesn't bode well going forward...ugh!!! Well, if he starts stealing again...it will be worth it...this is my flexible 2B/SS slot after all.
