David Lennon of New York Newsday reports that the Mets are targeting Athletics' right-hander Grant Balfour in a potential trade. The Mets have a major-league worst 5.00 ERA out of their bullpen, so they are considering a long list of potential upgrades. Balfour has a 3.12 ERA and 32/18 K/BB ratio over 43 1/3 innings this season. He's still owed roughly half of his $4 million salary for 2012 while his contract includes a $4.5 million club option for 2013 or a $350,000 buyout.

I will say thank you to everyone who contributes, especially those who don't beat a dead horse, the mods for mod'ing, and especially Havok for keeping the first post updated.
Just out of curiosity, how is Rodney only listed as "safe" on the front page? Guy has been the best closer in MLB this season and really has no one behind him that could take the job.
Casilla, 5th blown in last 8 opportunities. I traded for him and Heath Bell right about a week or two before the ASB. Together, they have gotten me like a 9+ ERA (exaggerating a bit? possibly) and who known what obscene WHIP. Plus there are more blown saves than saves. unfortunately for me, my league counts net saves. So these guys have been mighty torns on my side.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy said late Wednesday night that he will review Santiago Casilla's role. Casilla blew his fifth save in his last eight opportunities Wednesday against the Braves. The Giants were able to pull out the victory in extras, but there may be a change coming to the team's ninth-inning gig. Sergio Romo could get the next crack. Jeremy Affeldt is also an option.
I think that would be unfortunate. yes he has had some blown saves lately, but before that was one of the better closers in baseball. even with these blown saves he is still 7th in baseball in saves with 23 saves.
Heath Bell has 19 saves. Frank Francisco has 18. Are we really looking at half-season save totals to determine how good a guy is? He's still managed to keep his K/BB ratio pretty decent, with a 3:1 mark since June started. But his ERA is also above 7 in that span so... probably not a bad idea for a break.
Worth noting: Clippard has looked reaaaaalllllyyyy shaky in his last few outings. Gave up 2 HR last night and blew the save the night before. Storen is back soon, and in deeper leagues, could be worth a spec add.

But he has 5 Ks in 2 IP. And thats what counts, right? Right? But seriously, I wouldn't worry just yet.
