Feb 11 Madson (elbow) felt soreness during a throwing session Feb. 1 and hasn't thrown since, the Los Angeles Times reports. "It's a little discouraging," Madson said.

Recommendation: Since Madson was already on a tight schedule to finish his rehab before Opening Day, this setback could ultimately require a short stint on the DL to start the the season. Madson was expected to contend with Ernesto Frieri for the closer's role if he proved healthy for spring training, but that's looking unlikelier by the day until he resumes pitching.
