I'm scared to talk about the Angles. :-o
razzball.com comments, not mine.
Ernesto Frieri – 1 IP, 3 ER and blew (literally) a huge game for the Angels. Usually I’d say a guy with a 2.25 ERA is safe, but The Sciosciapath removed Walden for a lot less. I’d watch the Angels’ bullpen. Jason Isringhausen or LaTroy Hawkins could sneak into some save opps.

he's off on the ERA, season now at 2.05 ERA. maybe just meant to put 0 instead of a 2.

it would be 3 days in a row if Frieri pitched today.
Isringhausen has already pitched 3 days in a row, so I would say he's doubtful for today.
LaTroy Hawkins has only pitched yesterday and then July 29 before that, he would be available today.
Scott Downs and Jordan Walden are both on the DL.

I don't think this changes anything with Frieri. if anything with Downs on the DL Frieri has more opportunity to get saves.

He's also an idiot for saying that Izzy now has a better chance of closing. Considering that he's the one who gave up the last few runs (credited to Frieri), I somehow doubt he's "sneaking" into any save opps based on that performance.

Does anyone have any thoughts or seen any official Red Sox releases as to when Bailey will return from his rehab and when he returns whether he will be in a set up role or get the closer job?

Don't count on him returning to the closer role unless something changes. Aceves has been great ever since a rough beginning to the season. Maybe if he really screws up at some point.

Ryan Cook blew his fourth save in his last six chances on Saturday against the Blue Jays, allowing a solo home run to David Cooper in the ninth inning.

Ryan Cook blew his fourth save in his last six chances on Saturday against the Blue Jays, allowing a solo home run to David Cooper in the ninth inning.
Cook was called upon to pitch for a third consecutive game, and was unable to preserve a critical lead for the A’s. The only other time he pitched three straight games this season, he also blew a save opportunity. Given Cook's recent struggles, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Grant Balfour get another opportunity in the stopper role.

Balfour could be worth an add tonight regardless, since Cook pitched today for the 3rd straight day and would likely be unavailable tomorrow.

EDIT: I read some on twitter and some suggest Doolittle. he is left handed, and I don't think he has been as good as Balfour recently.

Thoughts on Parnell/Francisco situation in NY? Is Parney dropable at this point?

After last night, yes. Francisco when healthy was going to take over the closing duties at some point and Parnell speeded up that process in 15 minutes yesterday.

Yeah Parnell was probably gonna make way for Francisco anyway, but that ugly showing last night just solidifies it. Although Francisco seems unlikely to remain helathy, who knows if Parnell would be the next in line again? Rauch has been much better than Parnell post-ASB. I'd probably drop him and look elsewhere for saves, ie: pickup Balfour.

I added Burton for Parnell. I see him having some value as he has good ratios 2.25 ERA, .90 Whip, and 37K/44IP and will get saves vs. Right handed line ups (Perkins vs. Left).
