Huge Kemp Trade (WHIR)

Postby toof90 » Thu Jul 12, 2012 1:53 pm

Well Im in last place (12th) even after I've won 2 in a row so i give up. Im trying to get the best possible keepers for next year.

So far my 4 keepers are Miguel Cabrera (Rnd 1), Gio Gonzalez (rnd 6), Jose Bautista(rnd2), Jarrod Parker (rnd 23)

I get
Matt Kemp
Shin-Soo Choo
David Freese
Edwin Jackson
Brandon McCarthy

I GIVE
Jose Bautista
Justin Upton
Elvis Andrus
Mat Latos
Yovani Gallardo

I know Im giving a lot, but I dont care. Im getting Kemp next year
With this trade my keepers would be Miguel Cabrera (rnd 1), Matt Kemp (Rnd 2), Gio Gonzalez (rnd 6, and either Jarrod Parker or Josh Reddick in round 23 because they would be bargain

Ive completely given up this year and Im building for next year trying to get the best keepers and highest picks.
Thoughts?

Your basically replacing Kemp for Bautista? I'd personally rather have the "home run" king of the past 2 years and maybe a 3rd year in Bautista. Hits in the AL, plus has a better ball park to hit in.

I don't think I'd do it. It's close, but Upton + Bautista > Kemp + Choo, IMO.

Thanks for the help on mine.

I agree with the first two guys. I think Bautista and Upton will give you more than Kemp and Choo. But alot of it depends on how good and how healthy you think Kemp will remain. I had Kemp last year and he was an absolute beast but so is Bautista and Upton has a much higher ceiling than Choo. Kemp has just had a propensity to injury it seems like and once guys start having problems with quads it seems like it doesn't go away. However, one factor I would consider also is that this winter the Dodgers are going to spend big in free agency I believe to rebuild the Dodger legacy and if they sign Hamilton away from the Rangers then he and Kemp will provide ALOT of protection for each other. BUt that's also a longshot and I think I would stick with what you have.
