Trout Bautista Keeper Trade WHIR

Postby Cjt727 » Tue Jul 10, 2012 7:34 pm

I was just offered Jose Bautista straight up for my Mike Trout in my 10 team keeper league.

We play 6x6, head to head scoring. Offensive categories are R,RBI,HR,SB,AVG,OBP. 7 keepers / year, and my roster is as follows:

C: Joe Mauer
1B: Adrian Gonzalez
2B: Howard Kendrick / Neil Walker
3B: Michael Young
SS: Elvis Andrus
OF: Curtis Granderson, Andrew McCutchen, Mike Trout
UTIL: Melky Cabrera / Shin Soo Choo

SP: Justin Verlander, Jered Weaver, David Price, Ivan Nova, James McDonald, Hiroki Kuroda, Justin Masterson, Trevor Cahill, Brandon Morrow (DL)

RP: Tyler Clippard, Rafael Soriano, John Axford

I'm currently 1.5 games out of a playoff spot. I'm leaning towards saying no; my outfield is obviously stacked, and while my team is pretty pathetic in the HR department, it's not like Bautista alone will save me there. Is my Mike Trout man crush clouding my fantasy knowledge and this is in fact a slam dunk deal for me? Or am I right in hanging onto a potential top-5 player for the next decade? Thanks in advance.

Mike Trout is a once in a generation talent, he's a better fatasy player than Bautista both now and in the future. Even if you need homers you could always get that cheap from a guy like Dunn, don't trade Trout.

I think that you don't trade Trout in a keeper, but it's a heck of an offer. However, your OF is stacked enough that you could potentially do this deal and give yourself the HR boost. I personally would not, but it'll simply come down to personal preference.

Help out?:

I wouldn't trade Trout for Bautista, and I'm a big fan of Bautista. As another poster said, Trout is a once in a generation talent. Look at what he's done this year and that was as a call-up, not a full season.
