Braun/Price for Votto/Kipnis?

Postby Thursday » Tue Jul 10, 2012 7:10 pm

Good evening Cafe,

The trade offers are flying in my league recently. Here's the current trade offer at stake:

Ryan Braun
David Price

for his:

Joey Votto
Jason Kipnis

I actually kind of like this deal, i'm a fan of both of these guys. He likes Price, and i'm ok at pitching.

Here's my roster and league specs:

12-team, H2H, 6x6 league (R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG., OPS. for hitters, and W, SV, K, Holds, ERA, WHIP for pitchers).

Keeper league, we keep 4:

C - Miguel Montero
1B - Billy Butler
2B - Jose Altuve
3B - Alex Rodriguez
SS - Trevor Plouffe
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Mike Trout
OF - Jason Heyward
Util - Shin-Soo Choo
B - Anthony Rizzo
B - Bryce Harper
B - Jed Lowrie

SP - Cliff Lee, David Price, Yu Darvish, Adam Wainwright, Matt Garza, Mike Leake
RP - Huston Street, Brett Myers, Steve Cishek
DL - Roy Halladay

Cafe, what say you? Please leave a link when helping so i can help in return.

You can really go either way with this one. Considering what you're giving / gaining, I personally don't see it really improve your team much. Personally I don't think I'd do it..I think you'll miss Price down the road more than anything

I say stand pat. Your pitching staff is solid but I think losing Price might hurt you. Kipnis wont be much of an upgrade over Altuve in my mind. Braun and Votto are almost equal. If you feel like you can find some good arms on the wire I would consider it. Based only on your roster I say pass

1 Butler/Davis/Hosmer/Dunn
2 Young/Utley/Zobrist
3 Moustakas

It's a good value, but I think Braun is a great source of power and speed that you may miss. Also, I value dominant SP more in the second half due to the other guys hitting the wall come august. So Price could be a major asset you won't want to miss out on when it counts.

But like I said, not a bad deal given who u are getting.

I think I would keep your guys. I value good hitting over good pitching as you can usually have an easier time on the WW finding pitching, but Braun is a huge commodity. I love those speed power guys and I trust him more than Kipnis. Your pitching is a strength and I don't think the difference between Altuve and Kipnis is worth giving up your best player and an ace.

If you can switch Darvish for Price, i would do it.
