Risky Trade for Braun - WHIR 100%

Postby oriolemagic33 » Tue Jul 10, 2012 5:34 pm

C Willin Rosario
1B Billy Butler
2B Mike Aviles
SS JJ Hardy
3B David Freese
OF Carlos Gonzalez
OF Andrew McCutchen
OF Colby Rasmus
UTIL Tyler Colvin
BN Ike Davis
DL Matt Kemp

SP Tommy Hanson
SP Madison Bumgarner
SP Wade Miley
SP Jeremy Hellickson
SP Jon Lester
SP J.A. Happ
SP Gavin Floyd
SP Tommy Milone
SP Jeff Samardzija
RP John Axford
RP Kenley Jansen
DL Colby Lewis

Okay so as you can see my OF is my clear-cut strength. I have been offered:

Ryan Braun and James Shields

for

Colby Rasmus, Madison Bumgarner, and Tommy Hanson

Should I do it and make my offense dominant? Can my pitching take the hit for this massive upgrade in offense? WHIR 100%

I'd do it. You can always acquire good young pitching, the chance to get a guy like Braun doesn't come around often.

Absolutely make that trade. Rasmus is most likely going to cool off, and there is a going to be a ton of young pitching coming up in the second half of the season. Keep an eye on Danny Hultzen's promotion to the majors, as he may not already be on a roster in your league.

Wow some pretty strong support for yes. When is Hultzen supposed to come up?

Yup, i like it. You get plenty and your pitching can take the hit, i think. Even if you're reticent to trade your pitcher, remember that pitching is more replaceable than an OF. Do deal.

Help out?:

Danny Hultzen | Seattle Mariners | SP | ESPN: 0.1 percent ownership, Yahoo: 3 percent ownership
YTD (AA): 1.19 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, 9.44 K/9, 3.82 BB/9
Oliver ROS: 4.04 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 7.9 K/9

Hultzen is just a bird in the flock of incredibly talented pitchers from the 2011 draft class descending upon the majors as they ascend up the minors. Promoted yesterday after 75 dominant Double-A innings, Hultzen is the second of his kind to reach Triple-A (Trevor Bauer got there first).

Many believe Hultzen is on the fast track to the majors, though his call-up date is far from certain. His performance in Triple-A will have a large influence over that, and August is the earliest I think we could see him in the majors. So if you're jealous of all the people with Bauer on their roster, waiting for him to get called up, and want in the fun, here's your chance.

I would definitely do this. You would be getting arguably the best fantasy player and Shields who is a pretty good pitcher for Bumgarner who is a great young arm... Rasmus who burst on the scene just this year mostly and Hanson who is a pretty good young arm. I would do this in a heart beat.

The deal was tweaked a little and I accepted it:

Received:

Ryan Braun
James Shields
Jarrod Parker

Traded Away:

Colby Rasmus
Billy Butler
Madison Bumgarner
Tommy Hanson

How did I do?

Well Shields is a push to MadBum basically laterally moving for an ace and getting the best OF in the game? Great job. Use the free spot to acquire a stud SP off the ww.
