I have Valverde, but he has been disappointing lately. There are many good options available (its a 8 team league), but its hard to get rid of the closer for the Tigers. Are any of these players worth dropping Valverde for:
Ernesto Frieri Heath Bell Alfredo Aceves Hudson Street Tyler Clippard Ryan Cook
8 team Yahoo HtoH league
C - Carlos Santana 1B - Joey Votto 2B - Aaron Hill 3B - Mark Trumbo SS - Jose Reyes OF - Ryan Braun OF - Matt Holiday OF - Ben Zobrist Util - Aramis Ramirez Util - Paul Konerko Bn - Shane Victorino
SP - Cliff Lee SP - Ian Kennedy SP - James McDonald SP - Johnny Cueto SP - James Shields SP - Matt Harrison RP - Jose Valverde RP - Joel Hanrahan Bn - Jarrod Parker Bn - Josh Beckett Bn - Josh Johnson Bn - Marco Estrada DL - Brandon McCarthy
I'd take ANY of those guys, except Heath Bell, over Valverde. Frieri and Clippard are your obvious top choices. I'd actually drop Hanrahan as well for both of them.
I also don't know the specifics of your league scoring/keeper structure, but these guys are probably not worth a spot on your roster, either:
Santana Aram (if you didn't have Trumbo at 3B he might be OK there, but definitely not at Util) Victorino Parker Beckett Estrada
Don't get hung up on names! If you've got the roster moves, I'd be looking to upgrade ALL of those guys from the FA pool.
Thanks for you help. We have a standard yahoo scoring structure, not a keeper league.
I dropped Sanana and Victorino earlier, just have not updated my roster on here yet. Estrada and Parker I picked up recently for their match ups last week. Beckett has been on my DL for a few weeks and I am waiting to see how he does coming off the DL - he's had some good games this year.
Aram is the tough one for me. I have Trumbo at 3B for now, but Aram has been heating up in the last couple weeks and I don't know that there is anyone on the waiver wire that I'd take over him. Been looking to upgrade at 3B all year, I just have not been able to do it yet.
I am going to drop Valverde for either Clippard or Frieri. I'm not sure I agree with you on Hanrahan. He has more points thus far than any of the available RPs. Any reason that I should reconsider? Also, with Frieri, I am nervous about Scioscia using more of a committee in the future.
