Trade for Trout....WHIR

Postby killahurtz » Tue Jul 10, 2012 11:24 am

I love this guy so I am willing to make some moves to get him. My initial proposal will be Rios and Markakis for him. May not be enough but this where I like to start. I could throw Cruz and one of my top pitchers (Hamels) in the mix. What you guys think?

Here is my time:

C A.J. Pierzynski (CWS - C)
1B Anthony Rizzo (ChC - 1B)
2B Ian Kinsler (Tex - 2B)
3B Aramis Ramirez (Mil - 3B)
SS Kyle Seager (Sea - 2B,3B,SS)
IF Logan Morrison (Mia - 1B,OF)
OF Carlos Gonzalez (Col - OF)
OF Nelson Cruz (Tex - OF)
OF Alex Rios (CWS - OF)
Util Michael Morse (Was - 1B,OF)
SP Cole Hamels (Phi - SP)
SP Tommy Hanson (Atl - SP)
SP Jake Peavy (CWS - SP)
SP Jason Hammel (Bal - SP,RP)
SP Matt Harrison (Tex - SP)
RP Jonathan Papelbon (Phi - RP)

Is this a keeper league? Either way, Rios and Markakis isn't even close to enough for Trout. Hamels and Cruz could be a starting point, but I doubt the other team would even accept that. Trout is fetching some ridiculous returns at this point (I know because I myself gave up Votto+ for him in a keeper).

Rios and Markakis isn't close to bringing in Trout. I probably wouldn't give up as much as Hamels, Cruz, Markakis and Rios for him though. I'd start negotiations with Hamels OR Cruz along with Markais and Rios. I think it'll depend on his needs too though.

Trout is gonna cost you a crapload in a keeper league. Start with Hamels and Cruz then add other players into the discussion when he rejects that (when, not if). Prepare to give up a lot to get a deal done.

I understand that I might need to give up a crapload but I don't believe I need to bust up my whole team for one guy. Like I said, i love this guy but he can't make up for all of the production I would be losing. Anyway, I would like to have him and Cargo as my nucleus on the team. I thank my Rizzo will be a super stud also. I will try Hamels and Cruz. His owner needs pitching.

Yeah, I offered Pence and Pedroia in a keeper league and basically got laughed at. He isn't worth what you would have to part with to get. He will have to be a .350-100-20-100-50 guy every year to be worth some of the offers I have seen for him.

Everyone is in love with this guy and the manager who picked him up is incredibly lucky and happy right now but you can't pay for him. I think you would have to offer Rizzo and Hamels to even get a bite and that just isn't worth it to me

Like the poser above said, he isn't worth what you will pay...his price is inflated by his age, what he is doing, and people wanting him as the commodity. I offered Jose Bautista for him and was rejected, I countered with Tulo for him, I was rejected, I even went as far as offering Cano for him, and was rejected...all in a keeper league. I needed the speed and the trades helped my team, but in a keeper league, he is virtually the number one player by a mile and there isn't any way to argue against it.

I would agree with most of you...As a former Trout owner, I was offered Braun and Hellickson about a month ago and accepted it for a keeper league...I would rather have proven production over exciting potential...though he is def doing great, but I would never have given up Braun for him in a keeper...Braun is still young, but the guys thought was Trout is much younger and could be a top 5 guy next season...I wouldnt go that far, so I got a deal I think...Think most people are askign for that return now.
