First the basics: I am in a 12 team keeper league. Roto scoring, standard 5x5. Draft auction. As of right now the league rules are that you can keep 9 players and that their price will increase $5 from the price that was paid this year. We just started the league this year. I am currently in 2nd place in our league. The team I am trading with is in 7th I think and planning for next year now. For the auction we are allowed to spend $260.
Next to the players name is this years price- The current trade offer- I give up Bryce Harper $4 Daniel Murphy $4 Everth Cabrera $1 Gio González $6
I get CC Sabathia $22 Adrián González $48 Jimmy Rollins $22 Brandon McCarthy $1 (could swap in Tommy Hanson if I wanted instead). David Ortiz $3 Carlos Beltran $4
Obviously this trade helps me a lot this year that is not really the question. I am wondering more for the future, if I am foolish to trade away both Bryce Harper and Gio Gonzalez. However if I can win this year and get the prize maybe worth trading away more of my future...
My complete Roster- C Wilin Rosario, Col, C 1B Freddie Freeman, Atl 1B 2B Brandon Phillips, Cin 2B 3B David Wright, NYM 3B SS Trevor Plouffe, Min SS, 3B, OF OF Matt Holliday, StL OF OF Bryce Harper, Wsh OF OF Michael Bourn, Atl OF Util Daniel Murphy, NYM 2B, 1B, 3B Bench Andre Ethier, LAD OF Bench Omar Infante, Mia, 2B Bench Carlos Quentin, SD OF DL Carl Crawford*, Bos OF DL15 PITCHERS SLOT PLAYER, TEAM POS SP Gio Gonzalez, Wsh SP SP Matt Moore, TB SP SP James McDonald, Pit, SP SP Colby Lewis, Tex SP SP Johan Santana, NYM SP SP Chris Capuano, LAD SP RP Joel Hanrahan, Pit RP RP Ryan Cook, Oak RP Bench Mark Buehrle, Mia SP DL Ted Lilly*, LAD SP DL15
Thanks for the reply.....Personally i am of the school "if you can win it this year, do what you gotta do to get it done". and no I dont think it's crazy to trade away Gio and Harper. Pitcher arms are fickle and Harper won't start really producing for another couple years, not enough to warrant holding on to him at the expense of a championship anyway.

I am one that believes if you can win it all, go for it. Trophies last forever. You are getting a really good retuirn in this trade I would jump on it.
CC Sabathia $22 Adrián González $48 Jimmy Rollins $22 Brandon McCarthy $1 (could swap in Tommy Hanson if I wanted instead). David Ortiz $3 Carlos Beltran $4
Out of these the good deals are Ortiz and Beltran. Sabathia is a solid value considering he's a horse ace. AGoz is way too expensive at 48 for his production. Rollins is also overpriced. McCarthy and Hanson whatever...Hanson if cheap would be a great keeper. But both Ortiz and Beltran are getting up there in years as well.
I think you are taking on too much salary and will seriously rebuild for next year not having a lot of good cheap young talent.
Murphy and Everth are just whatever types anyway but Gio and Harper for those prices is just silly.
I see no reason to do this despite you being a clear winner of the deal THIS year.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
I agree with MadDog....while I understand wanting to win this year...you are def taking way too much salary back for sending both those guys with such low pricing.
I would try to rework it so it is not guaranteed to cost you a huge part of your future.
I also agree. I wouldn't do this deal. AGon isn't worth half that 48 and Rollins at 22 is also too much. I think I roll with your guys unless he comes back looking to sweenten the offer. Its not that far off so don't insult him with the rejection. Play it cool and let him try to work for a better deal. Good luck.
I likely would not be keeping Adrian Gonzalez or Jimmy Rollins after this year. So would not be tied into that money for next year.
Thanks for the advice so far. If anyone is curious here is the complete roster of the team I am talking about trading with: Glad to have any advice on who I should ask for. I have tried to get Kipnis but he has been real resistant to trading him.

i am all about going for the win now but looking at those prices for harper over the next 6 years you will be paying a lot less then people are for cano, kemp, braun, miggy and other MVP players. if you are willing to let that go then do it but just remember youll most likely never get harper back.
