Trade Advice Kemp + Harper for Greinke, Trumbo + Broxton

Hey guys,

The trade I got offered was Greinke, Trumbo and Broxton for Kemp and Harper

I have Storen coming off DL somewhat soon, so that would make up for the loss of Broxton. I feel like I benefit from making the trade, but I'm not sure if I should try to get someone else instead of Harper. Any advice would be appreciated.


Its a 7 team roto league, so deep waivers and stacked teams. Also the max innings is set at 1800 so can have a lot of SP.

I think you have more than enough pitching and you're getting the best player in the deal, so it's a pretty close one - I don't think losing Broxton hurts at all, but I still wonder if you could get another piece in return? I think I'd probably still do this deal, but might as well try for more if you haven't already

He wants the trade to be Kemp + Frank Francisco (currently on the DL) for Greinke, Trumbo and Broxton. Still do it or try to send him another trade?

I wouldn't do it either way. Harper being removed from the trade makes it a definite no, but you would be moving Sandoval to the bench with the first deal. That doesn't make since for you unless you flipped Harper or Sandoval for another pitcher.

Agree. I would attempt to move Broxton now though in case the Royals deal him & he comes a setup guy somewhere.

One reason I don't care if Harper is in the deal is that Austin Jackson is a FA so I can pick him up. Also since Justin Upton hasn't been performing I'd move Bautista to OF and play Sandoval at 3B, and Kemp would just take Trumbo's spot.

I'd put Francisco as my DL and then pick up another closer like Perkins from ML or I can pick up a SP Beckett, Kuroda, or Schrezer.

I'd like to move Broxton for the reason you mentioned. Also if Greinke gets dealt to the AL/a more hitter friendly division his value will drop too.

The league is deep so I feel like when you get a top guy, and open up space on the roster there is still plenty of quality left in FA.

I don't make the trade if it's Kemp+Francisco as the latter player is basically worthless since your league is so deep and you lose in overall value.

In a 7-team league, I would 100% do the deal if it was Kemp+Harper. You can find closers on the wire in a 7-team league, your pitching can take the hit, and you get a top 5 player. I would take it and scour the waver wire for saves (Wilhelmsen, Reed, Clippard).
