Tommy Hanson/Reddick for Garza/Rasmus, Always WHIR!

Postby coldfusion » Fri Jul 06, 2012 12:23 pm

His Tommy Hanson and Josh Reddick for my Matt Garza/Colby Rasmus. It's a deep H2H 10 team dynasty league with 5x5 cats plus OBP, SLG, Holds, and K/BB. On one hand I love Hanson's upside as a young starting pitcher and if Reddick is for real he could be a fantasy stud. On the other hand Rasmus is a young, very talented outfielder. I'm the defending champ in the league and the guy I'm trading with is currently in first place. Thoughts? WHIR!

My team:

C Brian McCann
1B Joey Votto
2B Alexi Amarista
3B Pablo Sandoval
SS Jimmy Rollins
MI Trevor Plouffe

OF Shane Victorino
Ut David Ortiz
Bn Brandon Moss (1B, RF)
Bn Kelly Johnson (2B)

SP Felix Hernandez
SP Clayton Kershaw
SP Mat Latos

RP Heath Bell
RP Santiago Casilla
RP Addison Reed
P Jonathan Broxton
P Sean Burnett
P Sergio Romo

To me, Tommy Hanson has the bigger upside in this trade. Also, Hanson plays for a better offensive team in the Braves than does Garza for the Cubs (IE more run support = more wins). I think the Reddick/Rasmus portion is a wash as Reddick is not totally proven yet (This is is first starting gig since he was always platooning with the Red Sox). I'd take this trade on Hanson alone, but Reddick in the mix makes me feel better about losing rasmus.

I'd take this trade as well. Garza may not get a lot of run support but odds are he gets traded to an AL East team where his ERA and WHIP will go up and K's are likely to go down a little bit as he wont be able to strikeout a pitcher here and there. Hanson has much better upside. As for Rasmus and Reddick I also see that as a wash. Take the trade

Thanks for the help on my question.

I'm indifferent on the trade. I think both could be considered a wash. It may all come down to if/where Garza gets traded to. If you make the move, at least you've eliminated the uncertainty around him. I'd pull the trigger if you feel good about it.

I think this is a good deal for you. It's very close because I like Rasmus over Reddick, but Hanson over Garza. I agree that Garza will most likely get traded, but it will be to the AL, so either way, Hanson still has the edge and I think the upside of Hanson outweighs the difference between Rasmus and Reddick.

Yea I'd make the deal based solely off the more upside that Hanson brings to the table, better talent pitching on a contending team. Rasmus might help you in more categories than Reddick but Reddick prob has little more power and better position eligibility.

I would probably take the deal... I could see Rasmus falling off as quickly as he climbed his power is legit though. I really like Reddick and think he is the better of the two personally. Also I rather have Tommy Hanson then Garza... I still think Garza is a buy low but he has looked pretty bad. I would take the trade.

First half of a season, I think the hitting edge matters
In the second half, having proven aces makes a big difference and the pretenders start to wither. So I take this deal.
