Trade Goldy/Casilla/Broxton for Kimbrel? WHIR

Postby jruffus1 » Fri Jul 06, 2012 1:20 am

I am in a 12-team H2H Keeper league. I need to make room and have a surplus of 1st basemen. So, I figured that I'd try to make this trade because he has interest in Goldy.

My Roster:

C - M Montero
1st - Goldscmidt
2nd - Kinsler
3rd - Lawrie
SS - Castro
OF - Bruce
OF - Reddick
OF - Morales
Util - Ortiz

Bench: Ethier (DL), Kemp (DL), Rizzo

SPs:

Lester
Hanson
Wainwright
Harrison
McDonald
Beckett
Bauer
Cashner (DL)

RPs:

Bell
Casilla
Broxton
Capps (DL)

Holland

Wow, I don't know man. Goldy's a great young talent and really turning it on and I very rarely trade for a CL. Now, that being said, Kimbrel's the one that would tempt me. But still. Goldy, in a keeper, is a little tricky to move right now. And Broxton just missed an All-Star invite. You absolutely could do it...but...I think I might run with Goldy a little longer and hope Brox holds-up.

Casilla is imploding, so if you can dump him then I'd go for it. Might not hold onto the job much longer.

I'd be curious who is available on the WW as that should be a factor in your decision. I think you can afford to make the deal. It's a big price but Casilla might not have any value much longer. Really the trade becomes Goldy/Broxton for Kimbrel and WW pick up if Casilla in fact loses the gig..

No one really huge on my WW: R Weeks, Avila, Morrison, Ackley, Jurrgens, Liriano, etc. I would be picking up another reliever for holds because I only have room for one right now.

I also hear that Broxton may be on the move.

If it were me, I'd make the move, but it's still a tough one to consider. Casilla is tanking as others have mentioned and Broxton isn't going to get as many saves as he should playing in KC. With Bell as your only other healthy reliever right now, I think you need someone solid like Kimbrel who you know you can count on day in and day out. Trading Goldy in a keeper league is tough because he is playing well, but having Rizzo is a heck of a nice fill-in and he'll be around for years to come. So I say go for it. Hope it works out.

I would not... Goldy is a great young talent and you are giving up two closers for one. Even though Kimbrel is a lock down closer... Never pay for saves.
