Is it too early to play for next year with my team? WHIR!

This is a 12 team h2h 5x5 keeper league. Including this current week, there are 9 more weeks of regular season. My record right now is 48-72-10. Top 3 in my division make the playoffs, and I am in 5th. 16.5 games out of 1st place, and 13.5 games behind the 3rd place team.

Pitching has really killed me. I lost D Hudson, Leaubke and Beachy. And now I have 5 more pitchers on the DL. Don't know if I can recover with this squad.

Bench- Middlebrooks- $8 keeper next year
Pitchers (start 9/week)- J Lester, Garza, Oswald, Morales, W Chen, Cashner (DL), Frieri, Jim Johnson, Janssen
Bench- Dempster (DL), F Francisco (DL)
DL- Holland
DL- Lilly

I think is a decent set of keepers. We start auction with $300.

If I make trades now, I could possibly trade Middlebrooks, Encarnacion and some of my non-keepers for Trout ($7 next year), Strasburg ($7 next year) and Granderson ($14 next year)

Seems like your out of it this year. I would definitley try and trade middlebrooks and encarnacion for trout to keep for next year. If you can get Trout that would definitely help you out next year.

I would. I hate doing this, but your team really shows little to no promise right now. Catergory leagues require good pitching and hitting to win, and frankly, your pitching is bad. I would just stop. You're not making the playoffs. You already have a nice set of Keepers, and you could try trading some of your better pitchers (Lester and Garza) for a better pitcher to keep. IDK tho, bad luck buddy. Sorry.

If you can actually get those players by packing it in, do it. I would be surprised if you could get Trout or Strasburg with $7 contracts but I don't know your league.

But, it's not even all-star break yet, you are only 13.5 games out, H2H involves a lot of luck and you can easily move Encarnacion for pitching help and move Middlebrooks in there. You could also punt saves. Saves aren't at a premium in H2H leagues but you have a few good ones that you could probably trade off for good starters. There are 10 categories, you only need to win 6-8 of them most weeks to have a good shot of catching up.

Unfortunately I'd have to say that it looks like this year might be a goner man. Your pitching definuitely hurt you this year there's no doubt about that...a comeback is always possible, but in your case it's not likely. So I'd salvage what you can out of this season and make some deals/lock-in the best keepers you can this year and hope for a better season in 2013.

Thanks all. I just really hate packing it in this early. I've tried to dangle both Dunn or E5 for pitching, but haven't gotten any good offers.

I think I may give it another 1-2 weeks before I firesale. In the meantime I'll try to grab some hot pitchers like Doubrount and Quintanna.
