Cheapest way to get Verlander?

Postby mayor quimby » Thu Jul 05, 2012 3:45 pm

Hey guys

A manager in my league posted a message saying he wants to deal verlander for 'top hr rbi and saves'

Looking at my roster, what's the cheapest way I could snag verlander?

12 team h2h in first place.
Mauer, A-Gonz, Pedroia, Miggy, E. Cabrera, Beltran, Morse, Holliday, Beltre, Gomez, Rizzo, puig, Hanley

Greinke, Johnson, Haren, wheeler, pineda, E santana, Ryu, Miller, Garza, Street, Frieri, Gregg, Putz, gregerson

You can try offering Tex and Nathan but I would doubt that gets it done. If I were the other guy, I would insist on Mccutchen.

Depends if this is a redraft or keeper league. I am intrigued by the value of Rizzo. He has lived up to the hype so far and I wonder if you land Verlander for him and one of your top relievers. You definately have the depth at first. I would start there. If I were him I would probably want more, but it is a good starting point.

Keeper or not, no way Rizzo should yield Verlander imo. Verlander is one of the top 3 SPs in the game and a top 15-20 pick overall. One does not trade that for a rookie with less than a month's MLB experience.

I would try to see if Goldschmidt and Frieri gets it done. Both have the stats to prove they are getting what the other owner wants.
I doubt that it gets done so you might have to throw out Texieira and a lower RP, like Bell.

Either way, you have a 1B that you can afford to give up to get another dominant arm.

If someone offered me Goldy and Frieri for Verlander I'm slap 'em.

Tex & Nathan sounds about right, but I wouldn't be too crazy about what that left you at closer. I would try hard to move either Bell or Betancourt first. If that fails, then Frieri or Nathan with Nathan being the one I would like to hold on to the most.

Yeah, seriously guys. Goldschmidt and Frieri? Rizzo? No way these guys are anywhere near Verlander's value.

I would shoot for Tex/Bell or Betancourt. If that didn't do it, I wouldn't make the deal.
