Picking up DL'ed players

Postby alex_bazeley » Wed Jul 04, 2012 3:19 pm

Players like Ryan Howard, Carl Crawford and Lance Berkman are available on the WW and they would add some more depth to my outfield or first base (multiple position eligibility helps). Should I pick any of these guys up? It would mean dropping Colby Lewis because there is only one DL spot. What moves should I make, if any? Team below.

10 team H2H
C - Mauer
1B - Votto
2B - Cano
3B - Bautista, AGonz
SS - Andrus, Asdrubal
OF - Upton, CarGo, Cruz, Melky, Trumbo
UTIL - Rizzo
BENCH - Choo
BENCH - Utley
SP - Weaver, Kershaw, Lincecum, Moore, Gio, Capuano, Bauer
DL - Lewis
RP - Papelbon, Betancourt, Heath Bell

I would say Howard. But with Votto, AGon, and Rizzo, the 1b/CI is pretty covered. I would trust a productive recovery by Howard than the other two. Picking him up, either he or Rizzo become a trade chip if Howard gets off to a good start. That is the best you'd do with this pickup imo.

I would grab Crawford. Berkman isn't likely to repeat last years numbers so wouldn't bet on him. Howard's injury has more effects than I think we might know. Crawford has the most upside IMO.

Yes, drop Colby Lewis as your SPs are very good.
I'd recommend Crawford as he has bigger upside and seems to be closer. The others don't seem to be that solid in their rehab.
