it first thought it seems like a no brainer. just not too thrilled about having to wait on longoria with what could be a nagging injury (already had one setback) and giving up a closer in a league where closers are highly valued.

Yes you do that. Slide Encarnacion over to 3rd until Longoria returns. You shouldn't value closers all that much either. You need to find a shortstop though, as "rotating" isn't exactly what you want when playing fantasy baseball.

Not sure it is a no brainer mostly because of Longoria but I think I would roll the dice and take the deal. If it all breaks right this deals pushes you into championship contention.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the trade. Longoria is injured and everyone rates him higher based on his name. Look at his historical stats; is it anywhere near what beltre has always put out.
I know you'd get konerko too but you already have a big bat at 1b.
Plus, you already mentioned that you'd be giving up a big closer...which I would keep cause he has job security.
