Granderson/Longoria for Miggy/Doubront *WHIR*

Postby moochieh » Mon Jul 02, 2012 9:02 am

8 team H2H 5x5 pretty shallow league, 2nd place, generally in the 2-4 range for about every category if it were roto, leading in only RBI slightly. My MO has been to get the best player in 2-1 deals and work the wire for a replacment with potential (i.e. trade Teixeira and pick up Hosmer, trade for someone while hurt, wait and then flip them).

FA available: BJ Upton, Kubel, Altuve, Craig, Lind, Rizzo, Kelly Johnson, Michael Young, Moustakas, Middlebrooks, Romero, Morrow, Cahill, Bucholz

Trade offered:
I get: Miguel Cabrera, Felix Doubront
I give: Curtis Granderson, Evan Longoria

My gut tells me to decline and counter. What should I counter with to make this a good deal for me? I have been fine riding Alvarez while waiting for Longo, but having corners with Albert and Miggy is very tempting. I would then start Jennings with Crawford on his way back soon. I am thinking of asking for Wainwright instead of Doubront. Happy to help you in return. Thanks.

My team:
C - Posey
1B - Pujols
2B - Hill
3B - Alvarez
SS - Hanley
OF - Hamilton
OF - Granderson
OF - Trout
UTIL - Hosmer
BE - Jennings, Crawford (no more DL spots)
DL - Longoria, Howard

SP - Verlander, Bumgarner, Gio, Greinke, Gallardo, Hanson, Beckett, Edwin Jackson, Bauer, Oswalt, Dempster
RP - Broxton, Street, Jannsen, Cook

His team:
C - Napoli
1B - Cabrera
2B - Kipnis
3B - Freese
SS - Castro
OF - CarGo
OF - Zobrist
OF - Rasmus
UTIL - Stanton
BE - Morse

SP- Sabathia, Strasburg, Price, Johnson, Wainwright, Masterson, Hughes, Doubront, Fiers
RP- Jansen, Chapman, Clippard, Frieri

I agree with germani40. I think you can do better on the starting pitcher. As for who, I think that's a personal preference and part of your trade negotiations.

So would you accept Miggy with one of Sabathia or Price or Wainwright? That is the only acceptable counter I see without me reworking it a lot.

Thanks for the help on mine!

I agree with the others, though I think Wainwright is the right fit. CC and Price have more perceived value and, along with Miggy, probably are too much. CC maybe since he's hurt, too, but I like Wainwright more personally anyhow. Good luck!

I agree with the other posters as well. You are giving up too much to get MCab, as tempting as that may be. You have to downgrade either Granderson or Longoria.

Good luck.

I wouldn't do it unless you can get somebody else other than Doubront. What about going after Miggy and Kipnis...I think he's on the verge of stud status. Your pitching looks pretty strong.

Agreed with everyone here. Either get someone besides Felix or downgrade your offer.

Everyone has this one right... Go for a better starting pitcher if you are giving up that much... Tough to say who though. I do like CC in a trade.

Help with mine:
