Dunn, Cuddyer, Kipnis, Reddick Trade -- WHIR

Postby curtk » Sat Jun 30, 2012 1:51 pm

I just traded away Dunn and Cuddyer for Kipnis and Reddick. Should I have second thoughts about this? My team in is in my sig. As you can see, I get lots of homers and need steals. Although I started the season off pretty well, I had a few bad weeks and just recently climbed back into the playoff hunt (I'm sitting at 3rd place right now).

There are a number of good free agents available at any given time, and I've used them frequently, but I felt that this trade gives me some help while removing some problems. Besides standard scoring, our league also has categories for strikeouts for hitters. Dunn has helped to kill me in that category every week.

Some notable free agents: Jennings, Stubbs, Crisp, Ike Davis, Belt, Jed Lowrie, and Alvarez.

What are your thoughts? Did I do the right thing? Should I attempt other trades, make some pickups, or stand pat?

Not being a Plouffe believer, I'd prefer Lowrie at SS.

As for the trade, might work out well for you as Cuddyer is slumping and Kipnis will do better as your 2B anyway. Dunn, like Uggla just kills you when Ks are a cat. Finally, if this is a dynasty league or even a keeper, getting Kipnis and Reddick is a big plus.

If you're already scoring lots from HR, moving Dunn wasn't bad. I'd prefer Kipnis over Cuddyer at 2B though the deal might all come down to whether or not Reddick keeps up what he's been doing.

If you need SB, Jennings could be an option, though I don't know who you would cut.

I also don't believe in Plouffe, though I would probably try and sell someone on him rather then dropping him. Lowrie would be a nice add in his place.

I like this trade... Definitely in your favor for what you have on your team.

I agree with everyone else too, not a Plouffe believer at all. Lowrie has way more power potential, well power potential that will be sustainable throught the whole year his problem has always been his injury problems.
