More than a dozen players with ML experience were shipped out on monday. Included in this list were pitchers Carlos Reyes and Mel Rojas and outfielder Chad Mottola.
This was the first cut of the spring which reduced the roster by 24 to 49.
The veteran players Tampa Bay let go shows the philosophy of giving the young guys a chance. "We kapt as amny young players in camp as we could" said Piniella, "some of the older kids here can really seriously start to compete for jobs now."
