Big Trade

Postby Pancake Panda » Thu Jun 28, 2012 5:10 pm

6 team league based on points. No keepers.

I am currently in 1st place but looking to upgrade at a few positions with a trade. Hunter Pence has been underpreforming and I'd like to get Adam Jones as a replacement. But, I don't think that trade would work straight up. I was thinking to trade Pence/Harper/Edwin Jackson/Carlos Lee for Jones/Carlos Gonzalez. Not sure if it would work but he needs pitching and a first basemen. Harper has a high value but he is on my bench a lot. Lee would be an upgrade over his Texeria in terms of average. Plus, I would pick up Paul Goldschmidt to replace Lee. And once Hellickson comes off the DL I would not have to drop anyone. I am looking for opinions though. I am willing to deal Reyes if necessary because Bloomquist has been hot and Alcides Escobar is available. Thanks for your help. I Will Help in Return

Jones and Cargo would be great value, esp when I basically consider your only real losses there to be Pence and Harper.

If you can get CarGo and Adam Jones for that you're a master trader. I would expect a quick rejection, though. Might be more tempting if you include Reyes but I wouldn't have too much faith in A. Escobar and none in Bloomquist.

Is there any way I could make it more appealing with a similar trade?

I'd say focus on getting Jones if that's what you're shooting for. CarGo is a total stud and I'm guessing it would take Mike Trout to get his owner to part with him.

Jones has been awesome so far this year but, if I'm not mistaken, he's not been as hot lately. Not sure you can expect his first half numbers to be repeated in the second half. Not that he won't be good, just not sure he's quite as good as he's been so far in 2012.

Since he needs pitching and you have a boon of starting pitching maybe offer the solid yet unspectacular Vogelsong with Pence if you think that might get it done?
