Trade proposal: King Felix for Papelbon

Postby sledge4 » Thu Jun 28, 2012 3:25 pm

10-team, classic 5x5 roto, mixed league, non-keeper

I'm not good at starting trade discussions. I work better when someone else proposes first, but I can't wait any longer. I'm looking to add a closer and he needs starting pitching and a first basemen, so i'm thinking of proposing the following deal:

Getting >
3b Sandoval (gives me some depth and Util)
RP Papelbon (he has other closers to choose from)

Sending >
OF/1B Hart
SP King Felix

I'd love to try and get Beltran, Granderson or Kemp but not sure what else makes sense.

Thanks!!

My Roster
C: McCann
1b: Pujols
2b: Utley
3b: Wright
Ss: Desmond
2b/Ss: Drew
1b/3b: Votto
OF: Gordon, Hart, Cabrera, Cespedes, Trout
Util/Bench: Quentin, Lind, Espinoza (rotating players at Util)

Pitchers
SP: King Felix, CJ Wilson, J. Santana, Tommy Hansen, Bauer, Parker, W. Rodriquez, Nova, McCarthy (DL)
RP: Valverde, Kimbrel, David Hernandez, Storen (DL)

I wouldn't. You've got Kimbrel and Valverde...to say you "need" a closer may be a bit much. You might want a third but, you've got options there - including a guy that might be the best of them all.

And you've got Pujols and Wright, so don't really need Pablo (though, I do love me some Pablo).

The guy you really "need" is Felix. He's the most valuable player in the deal. Hart's expendable. Pablo and Paps are great...but...I'd hold onto Felix.

All the people ahead of me in saves have (at least) 3 closers...thus the feeling of need. Plus Valverde is a spit-wade away from losing the job and Storen isn't certain he will be the closer when he returns. They keep saying Hernandez is D-backs closer of the future, but that doesn't help me now.

Sandoval was just the best I thought I could get from him without getting crazy and asking for Beltran, Kemp, etc.

Thanks!

If I were to trade felix, I would want someome better than Paplebon. Kimbrel is a great closer, but it makes sense to upgrade over Valverde. I just don't think you want to give up Felix in a trade like this.
