Team "needs" aren't a major factor here. Base value straight-up (again, points league)
Team 1 receives:
2B Kipnis SS/3B Han-Ram SP Haren SP Worley
Team 2 receives:
2B Cano SP Cain OF Hunter 1B Pena
Team 1 is in first...Team 2 is in sixth. Team 1 likes getting 2 SPs for depth (CC and Hudson on DL now) and a couple really solid bats. Team 2 likes getting arguably the two best players in the deal and a couple solid vets.
61* 70**73**762*** MVP****AL07,AL05,NL04,ALNL03,ALNL02,NL01,ALNL00,AL99,ALNL98,ALNL96 RIP Cammi Cmon Bud NOW is the time to sack up and force feed an Olympic style drug testing program down Fehr's fat throat and save OUR game from these blatant cheaters!
Well, then I'm glad I didn't make the trade...lol.
Right now, Kipnis isn't far behind Cano in points...and Haren projected higher than Cain did pre-season. So, I was just trying to determine if those two branches of the deal were close enough to land Worley and Han-Ram for Pena and Hunter (which I liked a lot).
But, I agree...Cano's still considerably better than Kip and Cain's emerged as the better option versus Haren. And, since I don't "need" Hanley (with Reyes and Lawrie at SS and 3B), then it's best to take the best players in the deal...even if it's not the most balanced package.
