Yyyyyyyyyyyyet they did.....which everybody else could see was coming but you. Which is why we spent 2-3 weeks correcting you every time you posted about how it would continue to be a total time share thing.

Dude for the last time, no one has ever ever ever.....ever said Frieri would continue to be this good, or not let up a run all season. You keep reiterating that point like it's some enlightened vision that you and only you are privy to. You are the only one to date, who has ever mentioned Frieri giving up, or not giving up, a run in the 2012 MLB season.
We've been simply trying to tell you for weeks now that the best from Downs in terms of fantasy usefulness for this season has past, and that he's not going to see too many save chances going forward.
You can continue to argue in circles about how Frieri isn't going to go all year without giving up a run. Knock yourself out. But it's basically argument that you've created yourself, and are making points against. Good luck with that.

I don't have exact quotes, nor do I care to find them. but people have talked about Frieri like he's the best closer in baseball, and will continue to be so. what he has been doing has been great, but it's a mirage and it wont continue. he might be K'ing batters like Jansen, but I don't see him on the same level. there are many pitchers with high K rates, that doesn't mean they are great pitchers.
one reason the shared closer role stopped was because Downs was hurt and unavailable from June 10th to June 19th. it was Downs who picked up the save on June 10th then he got hurt. during Downs absence Frieri took over. since Downs has returned he hasn't gotten save opportunities. had Downs not been hurt we still might be seeing a split closers role, because what they were doing was winning ball games and that's all the Angles should care about. Mike Scioscia doesn't care which pitcher gets a save. when Downd and Frieri were both pitching great and the Angles were winning, that's priority number 1. the Angles don't play fantasy baseball, they play real baseball where a save is a save and a save is a win. it's not often a team shares the closers role, but when it's working and the team is winning I'm sure the manager could continue to do that as long as it's working.

So who's going to close from here on out for LAA?
How about if we all continue spinning threads like this out of the closer thread when arguments just continue to go round and round? I don't care if these guys continue to beat a dead horse - in another thread.

I think that's a great idea. The closer thread is such a valuable resource when it's filled with up-to-date information and light advice as opposed to 3 page long arguments over inane topics which would be better located in their own thread in the main forum.

That just shows how off base you continue to be. Jansen has about as short a track record as you can find. Frieri's been successfully pitching out of the bullpen (not closing, but pitching) much much longer than Jansen has, and has tremendous career stats (sub 2.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 175 K's in 130 IP).
If anyone is overvaluing anything, it's you overvaluing Jansen.

I can definitely see the benfit to what you guys are saying, however I also see a benefit in bringing to light a situation where you believe somebody has mispoken or given out incorrect information. In this case, this guy kept giving out information over and over that most people found to be inaccurate. So to help those who really rely on the Closer Thread, it's important to try and make sure to get things correct. And sometimes that takes a little back and forth in the closer thread.
I agree though that all the after the fact, back and forth pissing that goes on is useless.
look at the numbers I posted above comparing Jansen and Frieri, specifically LD% and BB%, plus what Frieri did while with the Padres. Jansen is just better. not that it's a big difference, but I would consider Jansen a 1st tier closer on an elite level and Frieri a 2nd tier closer.
I guess one could consider Frieri an elite closer, but then would someone else like Fernando Rodney be an elite level closer too? Rodney has been great. but do you really want to buy Rodney as an elite closer based on his career numbers? he's been great like I said, but I'm not buying his numbers. I think this is fantasy relevant because if someone is buying Frieri as this good they are more than likely to end up being disappointed.
