Just looking for some feedback on the following deals
I trade Kipnis/Hellickson, I get Middlebrooks/Darvish
and
I trade Adam Jones, I get Adrian Gonzalez
Either trade wise on my part? Team below
10 Team H2H (5x5, OBP replaces AVG), keeper (we keep 6) Possible keeper have * by their name. My team: C- Posey* 1B - Miggy* 2B - Kipnis* SS - Andrus 3B - Prado OF - JUpton* OF - Braun* OF - AJones* U - Pence U - Rasmus
I tend to prefer obtaining better hitting than pitching because I like to play the matchups do a lot of action in free agents for my pitchers. Especially in a shallow league.
The first trade is a really close one for me. I like Kipnis significantly better than Middlebrooks, who I think turns into an average 3rd basemen. Kipnis looks like he could be a 5 categpry guy in the middle infield which is hard to replace. I think Yu Darvish probably turns into a top 10 pitcher down the road but in situations like this where it is basically 4 prospects I would put my money on the hitting and find pitching later.
As for the second trade, sorry but I don't think I will be much help. I havent seen any of Adam Jones this year to know if he is for real. He obviously will contribute more in steals but even with that I think I would make the trade. Coming into the year Gonzalez was a top 15 player in a hitter friendly ballpark. I think I trust him more to return to his SD days than I trust Adam Jones to continue but I don't feel that strongly.
I don't think I would do either of the deals although they are decent value.
In trade 1, Kipnis probably isn't one of your top 6 to keep, so really you are dealing for need. If you are getting killed by your SP, then it seems like an ok deal. I am assuming you would slot Ackley, maybe Plouffe in at 2b?
In trade 2, I am an Adam Jones fan. He is 26, breaking out, contributing in 5 categories.
If you had a great back-up for Kip, I'd consider that first deal. But, without Kip your weak at 2B...with him, you're weak at 3B. So, all things being equal, I'll take the quality MI over the quality CI...simply harder to find the 2B, I think.
I'd be very tempted to take that A-Gone deal tho. I think it's a sell-high, buy-low opportunity.
I don't like either option. A Gon has been a big disappointment and Jones has cooled off a bit; but I think he will pick it back up again and A Gon has done nothing. If you are dire at 3b and have another 2b, the kip/middlebrooks trade is a maybe; but I like kip more than middlebrooks and productive 2bs are rare. I can give or take on Hellickson/Darvish.
