WW pitcher pick up...Buchholtz, Nova, Niese? WHIR*

Postby StealingHome » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:06 pm

10-team H2H mixed keeper league; 6x6 with OPS and Holds

Jonathan Niese
Matt Harrison (I'm not a fan of his low K rate.)
A.J. Burnett
Ivan Nova
Clay Buchholz
Felix Doubront

The following pitchers are available on the WW, and I'm looking to drop/trade Kyle Lohse for an upgrade. A few of these guys are very similar. Which one or few do you like and why?

Thanks! WHIR.

For me, it's either Niese or Burnett. Both guys have similar numbers and have had one atrocious start this season (Burnett's 12ER outing being the "highlight") - I think Burnett will actually offer you more consistency as he's only allowed more than 2ER in one other start than his blowup, but Niese will offer a few more Ks, as he's just a tick under 9 K/9. Kind of a tossup IMO, but unless you desperately need Ks I'd go with Burnett ;-D

Personally I would keep Lohse over all of them. However, Buchholz is doing great but Nova is a close second.

Yup. Niese or Burnett for me as well. I was shocked to see that Niese actually has K'd more than a batter per inning over his last several starts. ROS I would probably prefer Burnett though. Both should post similar numbers.

I would go with Burnett. He's put up big seasons in the past, and I like him out of the spotlight/pressure being that he's in Pittsburgh this season.

Help with mine? viewtopic.php?t=449258

Thanks to all for all of your opinions. Niese and Burnett have been at the top of my list. Tough decision, but I'll likely go with Burnett. Thanks again.
