Ok, I haven't seen many posts about this guy...but seriously, is something wrong with him? His power has actually decreased every year the past 3 years, from 40 to 31 to 27 HRs, and now he's on pace for about 14. He's striking out more, walking less.
People made a huge deal out of Pujols, but Pujols has broken out of his slump for the most part, and AGon has just consistently sucked the whole season. Even without the power, he isn't even hitting for a decent average.
I have him, Justin Upton and Zimmerman on one team and after 60+ games I thought at least 1 would "break out" by now.

I do think we've seen the best of A-Gone. He's had a lingering shoulder issue for years now, and it seems to have sapped his power considerably. He still should be good for 100-plus RBI while smacking doubles off the Green Monster, but I'd probably rather have him in my fantasy outfield than at first base, where he just might be, dare I say it, below average. Zoiks!

I'm sitting on an offer his AGone for my E5. I feel like if I take it, it would be on a pre season rank bias, I can't justify pulling the trigger. AGone is looking like he's on a Hellton/Mattingly curve.
That's not to say he won't get hot at some point but it would have to be a pretty big hot streak to convince me he isn't simply a mediocre first baseman right now.

i read the title and the first word that came to my mind was "sucks".
pretty sad considering he was inside my top 10 going into last year. the guy just doesnt have any power whatsoever right now. im not sure if the shoulder is still hurting him or if hes just in a serious decline phase already. either way i wouldnt let him anywhere near my team at this point.

In my keeper league, very early in the year I made a move to trade a high pick and Matt Moore for an expensive AGon to try to make a run at the title this year. I recently finally traded him to some other contender who thinks he might still figure it out, putting an end to that nightmare. So now I'll sit in the lower half of the standings, slapping Rickie Weeks and Roy Halladay in the back of the head and wondering what went wrong. I may get Mark Trumbo to help me, since he's about my only friend left on this cursed team. At least Moore has struggled so I don't feel like a complete dope.
I think the shoulder problems are definitely coming into play here. I also think poor park factors have messed with peoples heads. AGone is an opposite field hitter, Petco does not significantly suppress power to LF but Fenway does. A lot of balls that would have been out of Petco are turning into doubles for AGone and just because he is a LH the terrible park factors are suggesting he is losing power when he isn't. This is why stats like OPS+ are so awful.

He's hitting with more power at Fenway, though. Only .254 with 2 homers on the road.
I took him over Votto, ironically, because of the shoulder issue. That is, he's had a couple monster years with the injury and when interviewed in spring training, he claimed it was closer to 100% than it had been in years. Seemed like a no-brainer at the time.
He was my sure-thing hitter and Halladay was my sure thing pitcher. Whoops.
