Revere or Brantley?

Postby mcmbpd » Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:56 pm

-12 team, mixed, H2H league
-Offensive Catgeories: Hits, Runs, Doubles, Triples, HRs, RBIs, AVG, SBs, CS, and Ks
-Pitching Categories: Wins, Loses, Complete Games, Shut Outs, BBs, Ks, ERA, Saves, and Blown Saves

Hitters: C J. Montero, 1B Hosmer, 2B Uggla, SS Jeter, 3B Wright, OF M. Holliday, OF Jennings, OF Brantley, UTIL Plouffe (yet another HR tonight in bottom of the 2nd, WOW!!!!). Bench: Howie Kendrick, Fowler, Matt Kemp (DL), Berkman (DL)

Starting Pitching: Verlander, Price, Garza, McDonald, and Vogelsong

Closers: Jansen, Hanrahan, and Nathan (3 daily RP slots)

I'm thinking about adding Revere and dropping Brantley, what do you guys think about that move? Who will be better for the rest of the year. I really haven't had anybody giving me speed (SBs) since Kemp has been out...aside from the occasional swipe from Brantley, Fowler, Jeter, or Jennings. Revere has no power to speak of, but he has an excellent contact rate and the speed to turn contact into base hits. So I'm assuming he will continue to carry a good average and could end up with alot of SBs (maybe even an elite SB option). He's also scoring a decent amount of runs batting 2nd in the Twins lineup.

The reason I say Brantley for Revere is that I just don't wanna give up on Fowley yet...i've been burned this year already by giving up on a bunch of guys way too early (Trout, Trumbo, and Sale)...had all three and dropped them, oooouuuuch right! Fowler also had a red hot end to his 2nd half last year and maybe he breaks out after the all-star break. In my mind though Brantley, Fowler, and to a lesser extent Revere offer the same kind of player in my mind, but Revere seems to be playing the best at this point. So would you add him and drop Brantley? or drop Fowler (if you think I should cut bait)? or even Kendrick (also waiting for him to rebound in 2nd half)? Thanks for your help and leave a link to your post so I can return the favor.

I'd keep Fowler too. You're just playing the hot hand. Nothing wrong with it. I'm fine with Revere over Brantley right now.

I like Revere too. If you are just looking for SB. Brantley is not going to get you as many SB. Another good player for SB is Everth Cabrera (SD) which might get you more runs and RBI. Brantley is just not having the that good of a year.

Thanks for the reply to my post....

Yeah...I would definately drop Brantley (sucking this season) and grab the speed in Revere....not going to hurt you but help you and if the worst happens then you can always go back and pick up Brantley (which I doubt you will have to do) or someone else with a hot hand or run...

Make the move and good luck!!

(P.S. I will post a list of FA SP's in a couple of min)...txs again in advance!

Revere is playing well right now... no issue with grabbing him and riding it while it lasts. it won't be forever, but it's enough to warrant losing Brantley.

Revere is on pace for quite an amount of SB (43-51 I think) so I'd go with him. It also appears that he's starting to get a little more RBI production as his hitting gets better, and he is hitting over .300 since he got the call to the bigs.

Help?
