Bullpen by committee at this point. Stay away from this situation. Most think it will end up being Lopez, but he really hasn't shown any reason why he should be the closer. I think Ligtenberg is the best of the 3, but nobody is giving him much of a chance right now.

I think Aquilino Lopez will get the closer job.

Toronto's Closer Situation?

Postby rlee » Sat Apr 03, 2004 11:25 am

Everything I've read is that they will start the season with a closer "committee" including Lopez, Speier, Ligtenburg, and Adams. I would suspect that they will land on whoever gets the hot hand (if any of them do). I think Speier and Ligtenburg have the best chance to emerge. If you like to gamble and have an open roster spot, take a chance on any of them ... :-D

Adams may not even start the season with the big club.

Riccardi says that Lightenberg will start off being the top guy on the committee because he has had the best spring. Tosca says that they still want to appoint a closer but he will wait until a month into the season before making up his mind.

Right now it is between Lopez, Speier, De Los Santos and Lightenberg.

btw - this is like the 9th Toronto closer thread this week. Maybe people should just check the closer thread on top.
