I recently made a trade request for Miguel Cabrera which was countered back to me. I would be sending Giancarlo Stanton and Zambrano and I would receive Miggy. On the surface I believe this is definitely in my favor but I am starting to wonder if Stanton might outperform Miggy throughout the remainder of the season. He is much younger and has size and average and may be on his way to realizing his immense potential this year. I am worried that once Ellsbury returns I am going to have too many top-tier outfielders so I am trying to make a move now. What do you guys think? Is there a better move I can make? I have countered with Trout instead of Stanton already with no response yet. I am in a head-to-head non-keeper league. Any help is much appreciated and I will definitely help in return. Thanks.
Yeah you do that trade! This is your new lineup: C-A.J. Pierzynski 1B-Joey Votto 2B-Dustin Pedroia 3B-Jose Bautista SS-Hanley Ramirez OF-Ryan Braun OF-Justin Upton (he will rebound) OF-Mike Trout U-Miguel Cabrera BN: Mike Moustakas Shoot if Upton continues to flounder you could bench him move MIggy to 3b Bautista to OF and what not that way and Moose/Upton platoon at UTL til Ellsbury comes back. When Ellsbury comes back youll ride that to the c'ship. You can easily add another catcher or SP with the free spot? Any upside catchers available?
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
Sorry for the delayed response, and thanks for the help on mine! You definitely do that trade. I'm a big time Miggy fan, and whether or not Stanton outperforms him this season, you CANNOT pass up an opportunity to add Miggy in a one-year league.
I would most definitely take this deal. Miggy will hit at least 20 points better than Stanton, and probably have within 2 or 3 homers of him (IF he doesn't have more... which is also a definite possibility), not to mention more RBI. And Zambrano was a waiver wire guy, so its not like you invested heavily in him.
Thanks for the help on mine. I agree with everything being said. I saw someone said Stanton "could" outperform Miggy..... Key word: COULD. You KNOW what you're getting with Miggy. There are no questions. Stanton has tremendous upside, but he's also only 22 and could go through some struggles at times. You just never know. With Miggy, if he's on the field, you know. He's never been on the DL in any of his full seasons in the bigs (played half a season in 03 when he broke in... full seasons ever since). I think you gotta take this deal without question. Zambrano's production can be replaced on the wire and I think you take Miggy over Stanton any day.
