TRADE: Adrian Gonzales & Brandon Philips for Joey Votto?

Postby Fantasy Addict » Fri Jun 08, 2012 9:34 pm

I have Joey Votto, and was offered A Gon and Brandon Philips for him. Would you do it? I already have Pedroia at 2nd, but could trade him and a 2nd tier pitcher for a top tier pitcher. That is my thinking. I need help with this. League settings aside. Votto is an on base machine. It will be tough to let him go.

I wouldnt but thats just me. Votto couldnt look much better. Im a sox guy and personally im worried about A-Gon. If you have watched him this year it seems like he doesnt have the eye he used to. So many bad swings. He recently got called out by bobby-V so maybe he will go on fire now who knows but he hasnt looked good at the plate. Phillips has been all over also and i guess he is the teams power guy now, which is weird. Its a decent offer but id pass.

It's a fair trade, but I think I would pass, especially since 2B isn't a need for you. And, you are thinking about doing this deal for a future deal that you want to do that may not even happen. So, I don't see how this would help your team.

I would definitely keep Votto, especially sine he is red hot so far in June. Isn't he batting like .600 or something so far this month? And he is on pace to break the record for most doubles in a season. You have to imagine those will be translating into Home Runs. There is no one player I would rather have this season than Joey Votto, I would keep him.

Thanks everyone. I just needed some moral support in rejecting that offer.

I would not do it. I also have Votto and Pedroia and I love where I am in those roster spots. I'd stay pat.

Actually, I would do it.

I am a Boston guy and am actually much more worried about Pedroia than I am about Gonzalez. Pedroia has shown no signs of coming out of it since his injury, and i worry he will be out for a month; Gonzalez should be fine. I am a Pedroia owner trying to trade him for anything of equal value right now.

I would be worried about Gonzales too if I owned him. He has what 16-17 hrs over his last 550 or more at bats going back to last year? In that ballpark? Pesky pole 294 ft? Somethings not right. Votto is a stud. Plus he steals bases.

I just can't bring myself to do the deal. For all we know, AGon could be dead even with Votto for the remainder of the season, based on his skillset. Then you'd have yourself a free Brandon Phillips.

But I don't trust him. Don't do this deal.
