Latest reports are that he might be back this season (after being expected to miss the entire year).

Assuming he is back by the start of September, is he worth a stash in H2H leagues? Roto?

For keeper leagues, will he be catcher eligible next year? I'd assume so since he played 26 games at catcher last year, right?

Only if you have enough dl spots. In a 1-dl league, I wouldn't consider it until later in the season -- there are usually better stashing options, shorter-term dl stays.

On the eligibility, wouldn't it depend on whether or not he returns this season? I'm guessing that, if he returns for a month and only dh's, he'd go into next season with only util/dh elig, in most setups. If he's out the whole year, then maybe he holds onto c eligibility, based on 2011.

I don't think he's worth it, he'll be playing September to get ready for the postseason if the Red Sox are in the hunt, probably missing starts every few days. If they aren't in the hunt, he's not coming back.
