What to do with Kemp?

Postby Southie777 » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:48 pm

5X5 roto, 10-team mixed...

Was offered BJ Upton and Jeff Samardzija for Kemp... I hate to give up Kemp for $.70 on the dollar, but I also don't trust him even once he gets back... I would kind of like to get something for him and just cut bait... Any ideas? How have other Kemp owners been handling his situation? Thanks!

It isn't a bad offer but probably not one i would take. Saying that I think Kemp can still give you a very good second half and be more valuable than you might think. If I was to move him I would probably look for one particular player instead of two but can't say that I hate this trade so if this is the route you want to go, I am ok with it.

What place are you in? if you a top team in the league i would hold onto kemp because adding a player like that when healthy would make your team that much better. If it looks like your going to be fighting a dog fight for a playoff spot id look to deal him for a valuable guy( i agree with poster above id shoot for quality guy coming back opposed to the quantity in 2)

Hamstrings are probably the worst injury a OF of Kemps ability can have. I think it limits just about everything from running down balls in the outfield & getting that infield single. Stretching a Double, aggressiveness on the base paths. If i owned Kemp in a re-draft league i would be selling to the highest bidder ASAP.

if this is a keeper league, then any move other than holding tight is hard to justify. kemp is one of the best players in baseball so his future value (i think he's 27 now) is just too high to ignore. no one is likely to compensate for that future value with present value.

in a redraft league, kemp's value is probably hurt a lot when he returns because he won't steal as much (because of hammy). but the dude can still hit for crazy power, so i don't know. as an above poster suggested, your position now should be a consideration.

Depends on who is taking Kemps spot in the lineup while he is on the DL. If you have a pretty good fill in then no way but if you have to go the waiver wire for some scraps then maybe. Upton has been killing it since he got off the DL and is primed for a big year.
