Get Rid Of Betancourt?

Postby alex_bazeley » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:08 pm

I love Rafael Betancourt. Coming into my draft he was one of my picks I was most excited about. The problem is he doesn't really get many save opportunities, being that he plays for the Rockies. He's a great closer, but you don't really see his name next to the "S" very often. Should I try and deal him now and see who I can get in return? If so, who would be a good guy to grab? Or should I just drop him and pick someone up like Tyler Clippard, Frank Francisco or Brian Fuentes? If I get Clippard, I can probably pick up Drew Storen when he's close to returning. My closers are Papelbon, Betancourt, and Bell.

He has 9 saves, which is pace for about 25-27. A normal closer gets 30-35 saves; he is not that far off the pace.

Calm down.

STOP PANICKING. Betancourt is still a solid closer. Save chances are hard to predict and I am sure when it is all said and done that Betancourt will finish with 30+ saves. He isn't far off that pace and you shouldn't have expected more than 30-35 saves when you drafted him.
